Originally a concept from Sydney, Salt Meats Cheese has been making waves ever since it arrived in Gasworks at the end of last year. Their fresh take on authentic Italian has sated and delighted North-dwelling Brisbanites stopping in for breakfast, brunch, and dinner seven days a week.
With cheese wheel towers to replace layer cakes, charcuterie platters rejuvenating staid corporate lunches, and cooking classes to help us upskill our kitchen prowess, Salt Meats Cheese has introduced us to a whole new way of life. And now Southsiders are getting their exclusive invite to the party as Salt Meats Cheese sits on the verge of opening a second location in our hip and happening West End.
Currently tipped to open in October, Brisbane’s second restaurant will take over a spot in The Garden Pantry, part of the beautiful West Village development on Boundary St and will carry on the proud tradition of fresh pasta, pizzas, and SMC’s famous porchetta, as well as classic and signature cocktails for some pre-dinner buzz.
If you can’t wait that long to get a taste of the Italorific splendour, we recommend venturing to Gasworks for a romp through SMC’s midweek festivities. Get around all-you-can-eat pizza on Mondays, bodacious gnocchi on Tuesdays, and the heavenly glory of cheese wheel pasta every single Wednesday night. It’s no wonder they’ve built up such a strong following, or that we've gone up a pants size.
