Sabotage Social TGIF Mixtape with Bradzilla

TUL: Tell us what Sabotage Social is all about, where the idea came from?

To put it simply, we wanted to open a bar that we wanted to drink at; A place where we could comfortably chill while drinking great premium spirits and craft beers, all set to a Beastie Boys and 90s soundtrack, with every element delivered without the usual pretentious bullsh*t that usually goes along with a lounge bar setting.

TUL: How long has this bar been in the making? It must feel good to see it all come to fruition!

It's been 2 years in the making. We have previously kicked a lot of tires around The Valley's vacant properties, and when we hit the corner of Gipps and Wickham the creativity just flowed. It felt right and we ran with it.

From internal design, music policy, whiskey selection, cocktail list, and skateboard platters, and our crazy team, these elements just seemed to all fall into place once the momentum began.

TUL: The bar's personality shines through its fit-out. Can you tell us some of your favourite design/styling aspects of the bar?

My personal favourite are the 4.5metre high, pressed metal ceilings from the early 1900s. The whole property was just dripping with history.

We love this city and have incorporated several of the valley's historical elements in the design which features beautifully framed pictures of a long lost Fortitude Valley. Oh yeah, and the Dimebag Darrell Stained Glass window is a favourite also. Our designer, Adam Head is the Man!

TUL: If Sabotage Social were to have a signature drink, what would it be?

3 fingers of Balvenie Double Cask on Ice

TUL: Where is your favourite place in Brisbane for a feed?

Hands down, Wagaya!

TUL: Where do you go for the best hangover brekkie?

Haloumi Stack from Fatboys!

TUL: What was the last gig you went to, and where?

Meshuggah and Lamb of God at The Tivoli

TUL: You've got $50 left, what are you spending it on?
50 X $1 scratchies.

TUL: You've got $500 left, what are you spending it on?

A limousine and Steel Panther tickets

TUL: Please tell me the bar was named after the Beastie Boys song, "Sabotage"?

Hells yes! We have a huge gold framed Beastie Boys picture above the door so you can check yo' head on the way out!

Without further ado, let's get stuck into that track right now. Sabotage is the first track of 20 that Bradzilla from Sabotage Social has put together for The Urban List's TGIF Mixtape.
