West End seems to be getting all the fabulous new things, all at once.
In a matter of months, West End has ticked off 3 x new maxed-out burger joints, added in 2 x of Brisbane’s best new breakfast joints, and welcomed 1 x delectable cake shop as a cherry on top of the already bountiful food mix.
For those of us who know a good thing when they see it, it’s time to point the compass west this weekend and get cracking.
Here’s our list of the best brand-spanking new West End breakfasts, burgers and baked goods to hit up right this instant.
If you love Ben’s Burgers you’re in for a real treat with their new burger joint The Bleachers. This addition to West End’s food scene is serving up Ben’s well-loved classic burgers, plus a few additional burger-licious creations such as the glazed eggplant burger and the glazed beef burger. Finish off with a super smooth soft-serve ice cream.
Burger mecca Getta Burger has just opened a bigger and better West End premises with bigger and better options like the Getta Boss: a 12 hour smoked beef brisket, crispy bacon, double cheese behemoth. And don’t forget Getta Burger’s supersized dranks. The Apple Pie Milkshake includes a whole freaking slice of pie; practically the pinnacle of the milkshake stakes.
In addition to a line-up of delicious burgers served on the tastiest of brioche buns, West End newcomers Charboys are also dishing up fantastic chargrilled skewer dishes, including chargrilled chicken and spring onion, tandoori chicken and rice and skewer-filled tacos. They are smoky perfection.

Freshly opened Billykart West End is the second venue of celeb chef Ben O'Donoghue and this time he’s gone BIG. Not only is there a restaurant serving up delicious brunch favourites such as honeycomb ricotta pancakes and the Aussie Asian eggs, there is also a deli stocked with seasonal jams, sauces and fresh breads, and a bottleshop filled with all the good wine.
Another newbie on the West End food scene, Morning After, is all about healthy and indulgent treats from locally sourced produce. Most genius menu item? The breakfast carbonara with pappardelle, 63 degree hens eggs, field mushrooms, guanciale and pecorino romano.
Cake & Bake
Okay it hasn’t opened just yet, but Cake & Bake—the new venue of Brisbane baking queen Jocelyn Hancock—is set to bust open their doors on December 1. And because we’ve been stalking Instagram for images of Cake & Bake's home-style apricot custard tarts, chocolate ganache cakes and lemon meringue pies that will be in store, we cannot wait! All the edible treats will be made from produce sourced from around Braeside, where Jocelyn grew up, but the shop will be smack bang in lucky West End. Of course.
