For the discerning dessert lover, a high tea is the holy grail of sugary self-indulgence. But a BYO high tea? Well I never.

While some of you might still think of high tea as a bit of a swanky affair, walk into Bites By D and they’ll set you straight. The attention to detail here is amazing and you’ll feel a little bit posh but it’s not at all pretentious. The fit out is elegant but fun thanks to the bright yellow pops of colour around the place and the jaw-droppingly beautiful desserts lining the cabinet as you walk in.

With a team of highly skilled pastry chefs, everything is made fresh daily with only the best quality ingredients. You can get your hands on petits gateaux, macarons, cupcakes in some of the most incred flavours you can imagine—strawberry and champagne anyone?— and a range of dessert bites like ice cream mousse pops and chocolate salted caramel tarts.

While you can pop in to Bites By D for a coffee and a sweet treat, it would be a real shame to miss out on their high tea—because why have one dessert when you can try four? Without a finger sandwich or a scone in sight, this is high tea with a twist.

With a huge selection of tea including a few you might not have tried before—like the Perth breakfast or the strawberries and cream—you can also opt for coffee or hot chocolate if you’re that way inclined. But most importantly, don’t forget that you can BYO bubbles so no doubt you’ll have plenty to drink.

The savoury food is fresh, homemade goodness that is cute as pie. Quite literally. That petite little pie baked directly into a mini ramekin and topped with perfectly flaky pastry is absolutely delicious.

Once you’re done with the savoury stuff you’ll get one of the most beautiful trays of desserts. There are four per person and we dare you not to finish them all.

While we don’t like playing favourites with our food, we just need a moment to gush about the Petit Antoine. With layers of hazelnut dacquoise, crispy praline, chocolate cremeux and milk chocolate Chantilly, this has been described as the adult’s version of chocolate crackles with a Nutella twist and we couldn’t agree more!

The desserts change each time you go, but considering each one is like a little bite of heaven, we couldn’t care less which ones we’re given.
