After years of sitting around empty, the Freo Drill Hall is set to be revitalised and we can't wait! Freo Social Hall is coming courtesy of Sunset Events—the same people responsible for St Jerome's Laneway Festival and Southbound—so you'd better believe live music is going to be on the agenda. The best bit, though? It's set to become an awesome new space for the people of Fremantle!
With a main entertainment section, two food and drink spaces plus two gorgeous alfresco areas, the Drill Hall can hold up to 800 people (that's a huge party, guys) meaning there's going to be loads of live music and events coming up—tasty eats from local food trucks plus local brews are also on the agenda (err, sign us up!). It's going to have serious music festival vibes, just without the expensive tickets and Monday morning hangovers—sounds good to us.
They're planning on having plenty of international and national music acts on the regs, with local and lesser-known artists supporting big names, plus local groups will be able to book the space for events. In short, we think Perth's live music scene is set to skyrocket.
Word on the street is, renovations to the Drill Hall will start later this year and we're hoping to be dancing the night away at Freo Social Hall in mid-2018!
In the meantime, here are Perth's best live music venues.
