Fact: we wil never, ever get sick of rooftop bars, and we're not afraid to say we've sampled our fair share of them. But every so often, one comes along that still manages to take our breath away, by nailing every single element that makes a rooftop bar great: killer city views, airy vibes, great tunes, gorgeous decor, really, truly great food, and of course, impressive cocktails.
Enter: Prince Lane. Formerly The Emerson Bar, this revamped three storey venue in the heart of the CBD has it all: the perfect mix of casual knock-off vibes at the ground floor Public Bar, sophisticated elegance epitomised by the Glamour Bar and topping it off, that Rooftop Bar, which is truly the stuff of dreams.
New to the venue's latest chapter is head chef Ryan Ebbs: hailing from the States, he's cooked for the likes of Jay-Z, Jamie Foxx and Nicole Richie (which we guess is good enough for us). It’s easy to see why though, because the moment our tastebuds sampled this brand-new menu, we were done for. The food is FUN–we're talking chicken parmi pizza (PS where has that been all our lives?!), Spag-O-Bites (yeah, you read that right), luscious prawn tacos presented in a crisp wonton shell, and mini hot dogs (because everything is better in mini). But it's not style over substance; this food is refined, and tastes delicious.
Prince Lane's specially crafted cocktail list is a thing of pure magic that will have you shouting from the (glamorous) rooftop, and we had a hard time deciding which was the most delectable. We’re talking luscious lavender martini; a colada cloud, piled high with frothy foam; and the chocolatey, coconut-rimmed lamington martini. Picture one of Prince Lane's three loaded fries on offer, a blood orange frozen margarita in hand and the stunning Perth CBD skyline before you, and you've got the dream after-work scenario right there.
The view alone over the CBD had us silenced in admiration before being brought back to reality by the cool easy vibes of their resident DJ (although things definitely get a lot more lit on their regular party nights). The space is total #rooftopgoals with a greenery wall set with super-cute neon, lush plants, heaps of seating, and dem views: the perfect setting for the upcoming balmy nights!
Any great rooftop is of course not complete without a karaoke suite. Well, Prince Lane delivers. This oh-so-luxe space is worlds away from a typical dingy karaoke room, with tropical wallpaper, luxe furnishings and a light, inviting demeanour; we instantly started envisaging belting out the noughties bangers with the girls or snapping it up for our next work shindig.
The venue is so much more than just its rooftop, too: the ground floor Public Bar has heaps of space and all the buzzing atmosphere a CBD bar should, while the middle floor's Glamour Bar is all opulent jewel tones, plush seating and Art Deco vibes.
In case you can't tell, we're stoked with this venue's princely new incarnation that pushes the boundaries on gastropub food and inventive cocktails, and will have us coming back week after week to try something new!
