Perth’s newest boutique hotel has opened and you’re going to want to book yourself in for a staycation, stat.
Quay Perth is situated smack bang on the Esplanade with incredible views over Elizabeth Quay and the Swan River. With 80 rooms, the hotel is part of the Louis T Collection and features earthy tones, Victorian ash wood, clean lines and plush soft furnishings, all inspired by WA’s natural landscape.
Starting at $114 a night you can choose between the Quay-facing rooms complete with bay windows and stunning views across to South Perth; the Esplanade Studio with views of Elizabeth Quay to be seen through the tree line of the Esplanade; Perth Loft rooms with views facing north over the city skyline or the Perth Essential rooms on the lower ground floors.
Home to Community at Quay, a sidewalk eatery, as well as the rooftop HQ Bar & Kitchen, there aren’t many reasons to leave Quay, unless you feel like stretching your legs along the banks of the Swan.
Perth loves a rooftop bar and from the sounds of things, HQ is going to be pumping. High up on the tenth floor the bar’s open-air terrace awaits with quality local wines and craft beers, delicious cocktails and a resident DJ.
The Chinese-inspired menu runs the gamut from battered oyster mushroom bao buns and jumbo prawns with salted egg sauce to char sui pork pancakes and a burgeoning prosperity salad. There are loads of vego options—think roasted cauliflower with peanut caramel sauce—and if you’re just looking for a small bite the bar snacks include goodies like crispy chicken skins, sticky lamb ribs and crispy sriracha soft shell crab. For dessert, we can’t wait to get our hands on the chocolate lava cake with egg yolk custard and the Redgum honey cake with pistachio ice cream.
Downstairs, Community at Quay has all day breakfast and lunch covered thanks to Drift Kitchen alumni Chef Jay Tesorero. Slide into a comfy booth and kick things off with their It’s So Fluffy I’m Gonna Die buttermilk pancakes with berry compote, fruit and agave syrup, or the Snap Crackle And Pop French toast with orange custard, mixed berries and Belgian chocolate crumble. If savoury breakfast is more your jam, you won’t regret ordering the Are You Fritting Me sweet potato fritters with pumpkin hummus, halloumi, poached egg, balsamic and dukkah.
For lunch, the menu boasts creamy mushroom and San Simon smoked cheese risotto, The Community Burger with beer battered fries and the Spicy Chick chicken schnitzel served in a milk bun with avo, coleslaw, bacon and mayo. Wash it all down with Margaret River Roasters coffee or a local kombucha and be sure to grab a Maison St Honore treat on the way out.
And if you must do work while you’re there, level nine is home to a 24/7 co-working space open to hotel guests and locals. Think 180-degree views over the Quay, private offices, meeting rooms, communal workstations and delicious coffee at your fingertips. We told you you’d never have to leave.
