The New Crop Of Perth Restaurants, Bars And Cafes You Need To Know About | Part 6

It feels like just yesterday that we brought you this article and, to be honest, we’re still making our way through that list—slowly but surely. If you’re in the same boat as us then it looks like you need to speed things up because there’s a whole new crop of Perth restaurants, cafes and bars that you need to get to stat!

Open Now!

Mack Daddy’s New York Slice

Mount Lawley

New York Pizza by the slice, just how we like it. We already know that you and everyone in Perth loves Mack Daddy's. How? Maybe because on their opening weekend they ran out of cheese. 120kgs of it. If you weren’t one of the hundreds of people who got there for the opening, you’d be stupid not to stop what you’re doing and go right now.

Chilli Panda

Northbridge

Not your average Chinese restaurant, Chilli Panda have really hit the nail on the head. If you’re a spice fiend, you will straight up love this place, every dish is loaded up with tons of chilli (don't say we didn't warn you) and the interiors are a far cry from what you expect when you hear the words Chinese restaurant in Northbridge. Think modern, fresh and beautiful.

Frisch and Barc

Como

Founded on a love of food, coffee and community, Frisch and Barc is a stunning Como cafe that you will never want to leave. From the especially cool interior to the incredibly delicious brioche French toast with coconut pandan custard and mixed berry compote, not to mention the coffee—provided by local roaster Top Shelf Coffee—this place has really nailed the cool cafe vibe.

Sweetwater Rooftop Bar

East Fremantle

With the former head chef of Melbourne’s Gingerboy and the former bar manager from Mechanic’s Institute joining forces, you know you’re in for a pretty sweet ride at Sweetwater. The dynamic duo are whipping up amazing cocktails and Asian inspired noms so you can enjoy the view from the sixth story venue.

Pinchos

Leederville

No, it's not new new. But Pincho's has expanded to become Perth's first legit tapas bar—we're talking $1 pintxos and a ponies of Estrella Damm for just $3.50 a pop during happy hour!

Mad Dogs Jungle Bar

Perth

Mad Dogs Jungle Bar has taken over the spot that was Howlings Bar (and Proud Mary’s before that) on the corner of Hay and Milligan street in the CBD. Think rad cocktails and an awesome vibe, perfect for Friday night drinks in the city.

Angel Falls Grill

Perth

Angel Falls Grill is Perth's first Venezuelan restaurant and it has absolutely knocked our socks off. Residing in Shafto Lane, they do amazing breakfasts ranging from traditional Venezuelan to Aussie with a Venezuelan twist and their range of smoked, slow cooked and chargrilled meats for lunch and dinner will blow your mind!

Blackbox Brewers

Subiaco

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Subi is on the ups and Blackbox Brewers is just one piece of proof. When the guys behind Little Matcha Girl, Sprolo and Blacklist Coffee Roasters, all based south of the river, decided to head north they chose Subiaco as their destination. Breathing some much needed life into this part of Hay Street, we couldn’t be happier.

The Cat Cafe

Subiaco

See. Subiaco. Told You. The Cat Cafe opened last weekend bringing a little slice of Tokyo cat craziness to Perth. You'll need to book in advance—they only allow up to 15 people in there at one time—and then you can hang with all the fuzzy felines until your heart's content (or until your time is up). The Cat Cafe serve human treats too, including coffee, muffins, cookies and raw goodies, with part proceeds going to Animal Welfare.

NOOD Cafe

Leederville

From gluten-free porridge to sweet and savoury breakfast toasties and smoothie bowls, you’ll feel nothing but good after eating at NOOD Cafe. They are also whipping out Will & Co coffee, NOOD’s very own cold drip and the turmeric and matcha lattes that everyone is going crazy for.

Wassup Dog

East Perth

We always loved Wassup Dog so we were pretty ecstatic when they opened a permanent shop in East Perth. With organic beef, free range chicken and a vegetarian option (yep, vegetarian hotdogs) and some freakin' awesome homemade garlic mayo, it's no wonder we dream about these dawgs all day long.

Magna Pizza

Mount Hawthorn

If you haven’t been to Magna Pizza in Fremantle you’re missing out. This is up there as one of the best traditional Italian pizza places in Perth, no doubt about it. For those of you who struggle to get to Freo on the regs, you can now head to Mount Hawthorn for your fix.

Supernatural

Mount Lawley

Supernatural is all about fast, fresh and healthy food. They’ve popped up at the ECU in Mount Lawley to make sure all the students are well fed but if we learnt anything from the raging success of Grindhouse at ECU it’s that just because a cafe is at a uni does not mean it’s for students only. When the food is this good it’s worth the quick trip to campus (and down memory lane).

Park And Vine

City Beach

The premise behind this City Beach cafe and restaurant is a true local spot where you can pop in for breakfast after a beach run or hit up for date night or a drink with the gals. Whatever you do, try Park and Vine's delicious bao and thank us later.

Garden Cafe On Guildford

Maylands

An unassuming too-cute-for-words cafe has just opened on Guildford Road in Maylands and everything about it is perfection. Garden Cafe On Guildford's smashed pumpkin is heavenly and if you’re after something sweet the bircher is rad. The juices here are also delish!

Third Wheel

South Fremantle

Third Wheel in South Freo caught our attention for all the right reasons, from the delish coffee to the Persian fig and butterscotch cake! They also dish up some pretty rad gourmet sangas, soups and cold brew coffee.

Arthouse Dine

Northbridge

Located within the Art Gallery of WA, Arthouse Dine is an edgy, modern bistro serving classics with a twist. They have an amazing brunch menu but lunch is where it’s at with the most amazing winter carrots you’ll ever taste, a Rangers Valley beef flank dish that will blow your mind and a stellar wine list! They’re also open for dinner on Friday and Saturday if you feel like treating yourself.

Recess On Barrack

Perth

Recess On Barrack has been open for about a week now serving up delicious coffee, bagels, pastries and a few other goodies. Apparently they are located between three Pokemon landmarks so you stop in for a caffeine fix while you’re hunting.

Blacksmith

Highgate

Blacksmith’s filter bar is the stuff coffee geek dreams are made of and the breakfasts are just as good. It's also a dream come true for all the super trendy parents out there, with a massive sandpit and play area. But don’t worry, the kids’ area is down the back so if you need some peace and quiet grab a seat at the front.

Academy Cafe

Mount Hawthorn

We love Academy in Claremont so we were stoked to hear that they’d be opening in Mount Hawthorn too. Open for breakfast and lunch every day and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, we reckon this place is going to be busy!

Cottoni

Fremantle Markets

Cottoni popped up at the Freo markets to satisfy Perth’s need for seriously ridiculous food. Soft serve ice cream wrapped in a crazy amount of cotton candy and topped with goodies like oreos, popcorn and all sorts of sweet treats, this is sure to make you feel very happy before feeling very ill.

Coming Soon

Panda & Co

Highgate

With the slogan “proudly inauthentic Asian” we can’t help but love Panda & Co before it’s even open. We’re expecting some pretty rad coffee thanks to Dukes Coffee, a whole lot of flare and a mod Oz twist on some of our fave Asian goodies.

Refuge Small Bar

Subiaco

Refuge Small Bar will be flinging its doors open next weekend and we’re expecting big things from this small bar! The crown jewel of the place is the 12 beer taps which hang from the concrete roof over the sharing tables below so expect a community feel from the minute you walk in. There will be a rotation of local and international brews, a range of local wines and classic cocktails. But wait there’s more. These guys are also offering an all-day breakfast, take away lunches and sharing plates in the afternoons and evenings so you can feast while you drink.

Bread In Common Bakery

Nedlands

You know as well as we do that Bread In Common bake some of the best bread in the whole of Perth, so for those of who don’t want to go all the way to Freo to get it, you’ll soon be able to pop into their Nedlands bakery and pick up a load of the good stuff. Yesssss!

Green On The Go

Food Truck

Health food is here to stay and the crew at Green On The Go are here to show us how easy (and tasty) it can be. You can expect noms like PB&J chia pudding, turmeric lattes, nut mylk galore and a range of nourishing lunch bowls.

The Hummus Club

Northbridge

The Hummus Club are finally opening in a permanent location and we are PUMPED! They’ve got a crowd funding campaign going on so if you want to send a little love their and get your hands on some of their goodies then check it out here.

The Groper And His Wife

City Beach

The Groper and His Wife were victim to a fire a couple of years ago and locals have eagerly been awaiting the return of some of the best fish and chips in the whole of Perth. Turns out they’ll be back verrrrrry soon and it looks like it’s going to better than ever!

A Dessert Bar So New It Doesn’t Even Have A Name

TBC

Karmen from the latest season of MasterChef has big plans to open a dessert bar and we plan on eating our weight in sugar when she does.

We’ve told you about these up-and-comers before and we’re still eagerly awaiting their arrival—Mister Gill's Fish And ChipsVenery Perth, North Beach Deli, Meat Candy, Rise Pizza, Hamptons, Doughnut Time, Slate Cafe, Plymptons Coffee and Erosion Meadery are all coming soon and we can’t wait.
