It’s only been a couple of months since our last list of new Perth restaurants, bars and cafes, but there are already 28 more new openings in Perth!! From tequila bars and breweries to New York style cookies and vegan desserts, there’s a lot to get excited about!
Here are the new Perth restaurants, bars and cafes you need to know about!
East Victoria Park
If uncle Delson’s secret Nasi Lemak recipe doesn’t sound like a treat to you, we don’t know what will. The newly opened Sedap Place serves up dreamy Asian-fusion, from matcha curry chicken and a really good-looking “volcano” laksa overflowing with springy noodles, crispy fu chuk, tofu pok, egg, cockles and bean sprouts. You can’t go wrong with a reliably good Asian restaurant like this one.
Cheeky Boy Espresso
Happiness is a good cup of coffee, said everyone ever. But when you pair it with doughnuts, spiced maize porridge, nourish bowls and boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast… well, that’s enlightenment. Enter Cheeky Boy Espresso, your new favourite Applecross cafe.
Debretton & Bennett
This beautiful French cafeteria in Freo’s stylish World of Renovation building delivers all our favourite French staples including cream, bacon and butter in abundance, but they also have plenty of vegan-friendly options—we love their “not tuna” pate alternative made with sunflower seeds and almonds.
Mount Lawley’s newest answer to fresh Australian seafood, Fish’d also do homemade salads and desserts, plus they are fully licensed. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 5 to 9pm, let them woo you with their delicious seafood platters of charred bread, pickles, marinated octopus, feta, smoked salmon, mussels and more.
Eat Me Ramen Bar
If a bowl of the umami bomb ramen from Eat Me Ramen Bar doesn’t make your face light up, then you must be dead inside. Their ramen game is strong, but their fried chicken is just as good! Get both and call it a day.
Regular Coffee Company
Regular Coffee Company does coffee and they do it well, but it doesn’t stop there—they also take their range of speciality tea very seriously. With lots of healthy things to grab and go, including chia pods and protein bars, these guys have your morning pre or post workout snacks sorted. Oh and it’s one of the most beaut cafes going round, so be sure to stop by for a gander.
Serving up speciality coffee and delicious bites like warm peanut butter, chocolate and coconut muffins, Broody Hen knows the way to our heart is through our stomach. They also do a super fresh fried egg and pesto brekky roll (drool) with a coffee for only $10! Clearly, these guys understand our love of a good value and low maintenance brekky.
Pronounced I-chi-ra-ku and loosely translating to ‘ramen is the best pleasure,’ we couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re so excited about this new Ramen joint just off William Street in Northbridge. From their Sapporo home-made miso ramen and the red dragon 12-hour pork broth ramen with pulled pork, to their signature dish hakata tonkotsu ramen with a whole host of top secret ingredients—you won’t find anything like it elsewhere.
Twig & Sparrow
With a cabinet brimming with all your breakfast and lunch essentials, from chia puddings, slices and raw balls to quiche, salads and bagels—Twig & Sparrow has just made life a whole lot brighter for the people of Willetton. They also do excellent coffee!
Namaste Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant
Namaste indeed to this newly opened Nepalese joint on South Terrace because as with any incredible Asian restaurant, people are already raving about their combination of great service, amazing curries and tandoor lamb—you can’t go wrong with this one.
This exciting community focused wine bar in Subiaco wins extra brownie points for their dedication to reducing waste. Let two of Australia’s most exciting chef’s—Charlie Vargas and Chris Malone—woo you with their kitchen skills and dishes influenced by the seasons and sourced locally. Served up on handmade ceramics by local company Winterwares, we love the attention to detail at New Normal, especially the modern fit out in the old Simon Chugg building, including counter-top dining, a rooftop and an intimate communal dining room.
No matter how many new food groups emerge, from chia puddings, raw balls, nourish bowls and vegan cakes—pizza will never, ever get old and Ischia in Highgate makes a really bloody good one. With pizza by the slice, calzones and an amazing assortment of antipasto, with buffalo mozzarella at the centre, surrounded by basil leaves, prosciutto and a ring of cheesy, tomato-ey pizza—it’s almost too good to be true.
This small batch coffee roaster and craft Italian chocolate cafe on Scarborough Beach road serves up mint looking chocolate, some of which issugar-freee, but you wouldn’t notice the difference. Mokaffe also goes all out and bakes the sourdough for their toasted sandwiches in house and serves them sweet or savoury—just yum.
Serving up Indian cuisine as authentic as it gets in a beautiful modern space, The Kauphy Place plates up eccentric food and Yahava coffee. From their chicken dosa, cheese dosa, paratha with meat curry and tandoor on their all day menu, they serve dinner from 5:30 to 9:30pm catering to vegos and carnivores alike. Our favourites are the fish masala, prawn malbari and paneer shahlik kebabs—but no matter what you pick, you can’t step a foot wrong at this place.
Underground At Allendale Square
We're all about bang for buck, so we love when one new opening actually gives us a heap of new places to eat from. Underground at Allendale Square officially launched today, so now all you CBD workers can get your hands on dumplings from Authentic Bites, doughnuts from Mary Street Bakery, ramen from Zensaki, coffee from Mo Allendale and so. Much. More!
Already conquering whisky and gin with steady Perth favourites The Flour Factory and Varnish on King, Andy Freeman is set to provide the same dining experience we all love in the form of a Tequila bar—the mention of which, makes us feel immediately festive. Opening this month, the team behind Caballittos has sourced the best tequila and mezcal your taste buds will encounter and will be serving lageritas. Heck yes.
You better hold onto your hats Perth, because Get Chunky will be debuting its NY style cookies on Sunday 30 July at the Freo markets. Think s'mores-inspired, peanut butter, chocolate and coffee infused white chocolate chip cookies—we can’t wait to get around this one.
From 28 July, the team behind Fringe World’s much loved Noodle Palace is opening a pop-up venue to keep the good times rolling in winter. With capacity for 1,500 people, there’ll be an indoor warehouse stage, beer garden and street eats to keep us satiated, as well as some free performances, art exhibitions and artists like KLP and One Day DJs booked to play.
Nowhereman Brewing Co
Craft brews seem to be something we in the West do very well (no surprises there) and the Nowhereman Brewing Co is a promising addition. Set to open late this year, stay tuned on the ‘gram for a sneak peek as to what they’re brewing for us.
A little birdy told us a two-levelled, white-on-white themed bar and restaurant is brewing on Hampden Road, with opening dates yet to be released. Word on the street though, is they’ll be serving up fresh and healthy twists on all your favourite classics, paired wine and cocktails—we’ve been told to expect the unexpected.
Whitfords Brewing Co
Whitfords City Shopping Centre
Yes, more breweries! Is there such thing as too many? Apparently not and Whitfords Brewing Co bring us award-winning craft beer from its onsite 12HL brew house capable of pumping out 150,000 of golden nectar, set to open spring 2017—watch this space.
Hunter & Barrel
Whitfords City Shopping Centre
Already dishing up good nosh in NSW and Victoria, Hunter & Barrel is on its way to Perth! What to expect? World class meats, excellent produce and good wine, yum.
Whitfords City Shopping Centre
These guys know how to feast better than anyone, with festive looking dishes including upside down corona cocktails, salads served in pineapple bowls and oysters served on bright green rock salt, Bangkok Brothers serves up an incredible menu of Thai food for breakfast, lunch and dinner—if you haven’t already tried their food at the Northbridge restaurant, head in to their new Whitfords spot to see what all the fuss is about.
Whitfords City Shopping Centre
To add to the slew of good things coming soon to Whitfords City Shopping Centre, Miss Chow’s are bringing dumplings to the house and other delicious things like soft shell crab bao, wonton noodle soup and jasmine infused crème brulee on the menu—moral of the story, head to Whitfords!
The Tribute Coffee and Kitchen
With their slick, amazing-looking fit out complete, we’re bursting with anticipation at the opening of The Tribute Coffee and Kitchen, on Tribute Street in Shelley. Take a look at their Facebook page and get acquainted with their passionate team who will be improving our lives by 154% any day now with their beautiful food, spot-on coffee and genuine service.
Vegans rejoice! There’s a dedicated place for vegan ice-cream, shakes and cakes coming very soon to South Fremantle and that rhyme is music to our ears and bellies. Tempting us with photos on Facebook of peanut butter cups, caramel slice, salted caramel ice-cream, cake pops, doughnuts and basically every naughty-but-nice thing under the sun, we can’t wait for Roho Bure to open.
Breathing some soul into the nine-level office building in Kings Square, Ippudo is set to liven up the place along with other Perth haunts in the area, like Brew Ha and Eat House. With popular restaurants already in Sydney and Melbourne, Ippudo brings its glowing reputation to Perth, its third Australian outlet, and we can’t wait for them to open shop!
Fig & Fox
We are eagerly awaiting the opening of Fig & Fox whole food kitchen and while they’re not technically in Perth, it’s definitely on the hit list for our next trip down south. Stay tuned to find out when doors open.
