If you’re yet to lock in accommodation for your Christmas staycation this year, don’t fret—Fremantle’s iconic heritage-listed Warders’ Cottages have undergone some stunning renovations to transform them into Warders Hotel, and they’re already taking bookings for December.
Neighbouring the Fremantle Markets, this beautiful new boutique hotel has its own small corner bar, Gimlet, which is built into the ground floor of one of the cottages and a huge Asian fusion eatery, Emily Taylor, in the courtyard which seats 450 people—so expect to be eating yourself into a food coma at some point during your stay.
While the cottages are now a far cry from their original use as housing for Fremantle Prison’s warders, architect Matthew Crawford has made sure that the new hotel, restaurant and bar all acknowledge the site’s historic significance.
Every detail has been carefully considered—from the thick limestone walls and original timbers right down to the beautiful furniture and art, each room at Warders Hotel has been thoughtfully designed.
