Perth, your spring and summer is looking a whole lot better thanks to the brand spanking new garden and cocktail bar The Resident.
In the space that used to be The Byrneleigh in Nedlands, The Resident breaths a whole lot of new life into the leafy ‘burb, and promises amazing Sunday sessions, delish Italian-style eats and a cocktail list that rivals just about anything we’ve seen in terms of flavour.
Perfect for lunch and dinner, casual drinks, a raging Saturday night or chilled Sunday arvo, one of our favourite things about The Resident is their cocktail tap—the bar crew come up with delicious concoctions which they rotate each month. Pair that with the 20 or so boutique tap beers and ciders and organic wines and you have yourself an experience you’ll want to relive once a week.
Cocktails we love include the Boab Blossom (gin, elderflower, apple, lemon, sugar and soda), the Fremantle Nurse (vodka, mint, grapefruit, lime and grenadine) and the Aperol Your Way (choose between sour or spritz) which is the ultimate Sunday sesh drink!
On the menu there are plenty of eats for all types of foodies, lovingly crafted by an ex Jamie Oliver chef, no less! We recommend kicking things off with the bruschetta with whipped fetta, followed by some mushroom fritti with aged parmesan and garlic aioli, and then for the main event, the pork belly with peperonata, fennel, green apple and toasted red rice will not disappoint. And the halloumi fries served with hellfire sauce and herbs is a given for all the cheese-lovers out there.
The menu also features pizzas (all can be made with their gluten free bases) and everything is designed to share, so come with a big appetite and a whole lot of friends!
And in terms of the fit out, Hamptons vibes abound, with wall-to-wall white, nautical elements and a glorious beer garden out the back which features a boab tree. Plus, there’s a fireplace which will keep you warm in winter. It’s safe to say you’ll never want to leave.
