Father’s Day is next Sunday and if you’re anything like us, you have completely forgotten about it, until right now! Luckily dads are way easier to please than mums, because the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So all you need to do is take him out for a good feed and he’ll be happy. Where you take him though, depends entirely on the type of dad he is.
Here’s where to spoil your dad in Perth this Father’s Day, no matter what kind of dad he is. Take your pick and book a table!
The Old School Dad
The old school dad just wants bacon and eggs and doesn’t know what the heck a 63 degree slow cooked egg is. Take him to The Tuck Shop Cafe in Northbridge and if all else on the menu fails, he can get one of Perth’s best pies.
The Foodie Dad
The foodie dad is kind of old school but more particular about his food. He wants hearty meals with a twist. Take him to Layup in Northbridge and order him the savoury crepe with wagyu bresola. You will be the favourite child in no time at all.
The Hippy Dad
You have to take your hippy dad to Freo and there’s no better place than Ootong & Lincoln in South Fremantle. With all the food made on site using locally sourced ingredients, your dad will be very happy with the laid back vibes and delish eats.
The Carnivorous Dad
If your dad is all about meat you’ve got to take him to Angel Falls Grill in Shafto Lane. These guys do some of the best slow cooked meat in Perth and you can get it at breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The Arty Dad
Take your arty dad to Canvas Cafe in Fremantle so you can eat some a Middle Eastern inspired brekky outside in the courtyard then go for a wander through the Freo Arts Centre.
The True Blue Perth Dad
The true blue Perth dad loves the ocean more than he loves his children, but you still have to treat him on Father’s Day. Take him to Bib & Tucker in North Freo and enjoy the view.
The Seriously Caffeinated Dad
Take your caffeine addicted father to Blacksmith in Highgate and let him loose at the filter bar. If you or your siblings have kids, you’re in luck because this place has a giant play area out the back.
The Sweet Tooth Dad
If dad’s got a mega sweet tooth take him to The Little Pantry in Shenton Park for their brioche French toast with Nutella, salted caramel, rhubarb and ice cream, or the pancakes with caramelised banana and bacon. The team here also do some wicked savoury breakfasts like truffled scrambled eggs and sweet corn fritters so everyone will be happy.
The Adventurous Dad
If your Dad is pretty adventurous when it comes to his food and appreciates some good plating up, look no further than tbsp in Bayswater to celebrate his special day. He can take his pick from pan-fried Korean rice cakes with spicy pork ragu and slow-cooked egg, pulled brisket benedict or the fried chicken sandwich. You can Instagram the heck out of every dish that comes out so it’s a win-win situation.
The Fancy Dad
If your dad enjoys the finer things in life take him to The Shorehouse in Swanbourne and let him marvel at that beautiful copper bathtub. Then he can sit down and order the black sesame banana bread with butterscotch sauce and crème chantilly or the potato rosti with smoked salmon, poached egg, chive crème fraiche and salsa verde.
If your dad loves a drink no matter what time of day, get him down to Cantina 663 in Mount Lawley for the best scrambled eggs and a bloody Mary or two.
That's Father’s Day sorted then!
