Summer is merely a month away and we’re about to explode with excitement!

Beach days, drinking cocktails and watching the sunset, outdoor movies and fun festivals are coming for you, Perth, and now’s the time to start planning your perfect summer, because if you blink you’ll miss it.

Here’s Your Ultimate Perth Summer Hit List.

Spend As Much Time At The Beach As Possible

You’ll miss it like crazy when winter rolls around, so leave the confines of your air-conditioned abode as much as possible and set out for Perth’s sandy shores. And when you’re not lolling about in the surf, make way for some of the Perth’s best beachside eateries so you can at least stare at the ocean. There’s plenty on offer, but our pick would be Port Beach’s newbie, Coast; Odyssea, Hamptons, Park & Vine, Tropico and Bib & Tucker.

Trek Up The Hill

When the hot easterly winds aren’t thrashing about, trek up to the Hills for some fun among the shady gumtrees. Head out to Lesmurdie Falls for a dip by the waterfall or hike part of the Bibbulmun Track before heading to Kalamunda’s Mason & Bird or Jack & Jill for lunch. Don’t forget to stop by Collodel Ice Cream & Sorbet to cool off before the journey home.

Hit Up The Best Festivals

See at least three shows at next year’s Perth Fringe World Festival, get tickets early to St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Sets On The Beach; and while you’re celebrating Christmas down south be sure to stop by Southbound.

Get Sky High

Everyone knows booze tastes better in the sunshine, so head to some of Perth’s best rooftops and keep those summer vibes rolling. Slide East Freo’s newbie, Sweetwater, to the top of your list, then stop by all our old favourites, Bob’s Bar, The Reveley, Mechanics and The Sherry.

Make Douth Your Second Home

Whether you’re a Dunsborough kid at heart or Margaret River and Augusta are more your flavour, make sure you explore every nook and cranny of our beautiful south west this summer. Head to Wise Winery’s new-ish spot, Lot 80, for their tasty paella, follow the wine tasting trail to Augusta and check out the Leeuwin Lighthouse, have a fancy pants lunch at Wills Domain and shop up a storm at some of our favourite south-west boutiques.

Eat All Of The Cold Things

With so many new ice cream and gelato options in Perth, cooling down ain’t no thang. Stop by Honey Creme for some of their crazy Korean ice cream or Jersey Jack for their Monstro Milkshake. If gelato is your preference you can’t go wrong with Gusto, Chicho and Whisk.

Go To Rotto At Least Once

We all say we’re going to go to Rotto when summer rolls around, but how often do we actually follow through? This summer we challenge you to make your way over there at least once. You’ll leave wondering why you don’t spend every weekend there, trust us. Don’t forget to pack your snorkel gear and get a selfie with a quokka.

Forget Netflix, Head Outdoors

Netflix and your couch will be waiting for you when winter rolls around again, so take your entertainment needs outdoors and head to some of Perth’s best outdoor cinemas. Our faves are Rooftop Movies, Kings Park’s Moonlight Cinemas, the Kookaburra Outdoor Cinema in Mundaring and Luna Outdoor. Don’t forget your mossie repellent.

Follow The Food Trucks

Perth’s food truck scene has exploded, there’s easily hundreds of trucks driving around our great city on the daily. For the pick of the bunch, check out the Twilight Hawkers Markets, Bathers Beach Sunset Markets, Beaufort Street Night Markets and the Kalamunda Night Markets.
