Mejico Opens Its Second Restaurant In Miranda

For those looking for the best Mexican restaurants in Sydney, no longer do you have to make the commute to the CBD to get your taco fix. Joining the fleet of Sydney restaurants and cafes making the move down south, Méjico Miranda is dishing up its delectable market-to-table menu to the good people of The Shire.

Your taste buds will be treated to authentic regional flavours, dished up with a modern spin, as Méjico Miranda creates some of the finest modern, market-to-table Mexican cuisine in Australia.

On the bill are Méjico’s signature dishes, including smashed guacamole (freshly made at your table!) with Serrano chilli, pistachios and plantain chips, chargrilled Hunter Valley lamb with house-made chimichurri, and corn lollipops with queso fresco, paprika and shredded coconut. These are a personal Urban List favourite.

From the ceviche raw bar comes scallops with pomegranate, jalapeno, crispy eschalots and house-baked tostadas, or tuna with spiced tapioca pearls and tortilla chips.

Now, Méjico definitely has a reputation for its extensive tequila and mezcal list, boasting the largest variety in Australia. You can also take your pick from classic margaritas or innovative cocktails, such as the Abuelos Tipple with grilled banana-infused Espolon Reposado, Calvados and walnut bitters.

To soak it up, we’d order the achiote chicken with mango-habanero salsa, quinoa salad and spiced almonds, the hot pot of octopus and chorizo, or the vegetable paella with saffron. But if you’re tempted by tacos (who isn’t?!), our picks are the soft shell crab with cabbage and apple slaw, or the braised lamb with tomato, guajillo and mint-infused mayo.

Wines are predominantly sourced from Chile, Argentina and Spain, while a carafe of white peach sangria wouldn’t go amiss. If you’re not drinking, you can still take part in the fun with a chia concoction of coconut milk and aloe vera or lychee and pink grapefruit.

A word to the wise: save room for dessert. There’s peanut caramel flan, warm cinnamon-spiced churros, and lemon meringue with hibiscus pistachio crumb, which you HAVE to try.

Let’s be honest, with so much dodgy Mexican food in Sydney, Méjico is certainly bringing some exciting options to the table. It’s no wonder the place is already packed. Méjico Miranda is open from 11:30am till late, 7 days a week. We highly recommend making a reservation.
