peroni what's trending in Sydney

We’ve teamed up with Peroni to bring you our What’s Trending hit-list: your monthly guide to maximising life in the city. We’re cutting through the chatter and counting down our top 10 hottest new openings, events, and trending happenings in Sydney this month, so you won't miss a thing.

December is always a pretty hectic month. There’s parties to organise, gifts to buy and summer feasting to be done. So you’d be forgiven if you haven’t been on top of what’s trending in Sydney this month. Don’t worry though, we’ve got your back with our wrap up of the Sydney trends worth knowing about.

#1 Long lunching in style at Chiswick Restaurant

There’s long lunching. And then there’s long lunching at Chiswick. Located in the gorgeously leafy suburb of Woollahra, its casual contemporary setting is something that will never go out of style. Pair the famed Moran family lamb with a cool glass of Peroni and be the talk of the festive season amongst your pals.

#2 The Rooftop Bar at InterContinental Double Bay

If there’s something we never tire of, it’s enjoying breathtaking views with a cold one in hand. This summer get all fancy–like and escape to the intimate hideaway that is the InterContinental Double Bay Rooftop Bar. Oh and take advantage of their table service hours so you don’t have to signal the barman like you’re an air traffic controller for your next round of Peronis.

#3 Sydney’s most luxe cheeseburger at The Cut Bar & Grill

We know, we know… $30 for a cheeseburger had us shedding a tear too. And surely enough, as soon as we sunk our teeth into this wagyu beef bad boy from The Cut Bar & Grill, the tears were flowing—tears of joy that is. Packed with gruyere cheese, cauliflower puree, truffles and horseradish hugged by the house-made brioche bun, it’s the big cheese of burgerdom.

#4 Friiiied chicken from Belle’s Hot Chicken

At the Urban List, we fantasise about fried chicken on the reg, so when Melbourne’s Belle’s Hot Chicken announced they’d be crossing the border for a pop-up in Sydney, it’s safe to say it was a dream come true. Here, you’ll be treated to their famous Nashville hot chicken as well as a little taster of their Melbourne menu.

#5 Pitas from the newly opened Zeus Street Greek, Rosebery

With street style being all the rage these days, our best dressed in the street food stakes goes to the epic pitas from Zeus Street Greek. Stuffed to the brim with your protein of choice (there’s soft shell crab if you’re wanting to go against the grain), fresh veg and creamy mayo with chips, it’s the perfect way to nurse our weary heads from all the festive drinking.

#6 Coffee with heart at Gratia

Gratitude is in this month and in the spirit of Christmas, give a little with your brew by grabbing your next cuppa at Gratia. This Surry Hills café has just about the biggest heart around, donating 100% of its profits to charity—so really it’s a feel good experience all ‘round. We’re feeling all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it.

#7 Xiao long bao from the new New Shanghai

Xiao long baos are always on our radar so we didn’t miss a beat when New Shanghai added another outpost for dumpling nirvana in the CBD. Essentially little parcels of heaven, handles these gems with care for fear of piercing that delicate dumpling skin.

#8 All the donuts from Grumpy Donuts

Surely enough you would have seen this delightfully moody bunch making the rounds on Instagram. Contrary to the name, a box of hand-crafted Grumpy Donuts delivered to your door will leave you grinning from ear to ear with their tantalising flavours. Special mention goes to the sour patch jam and the caramel potato chips (trust us, it just works).

#9 Meatball panino from Italian Street Kitchen

The meatball panino from Neutral Bay fave, Italian Street Kitchen will transport you straight to Naples. With the panino station in full view you can impatiently count down the seconds till your order’s up by watching as the chefs fill up your sub with authentic Napoli meatballs, parmesan cheese and fresh basil.

#10 New vegetarian friendly menu from Sokyo

We’re taking our cues from the #cleaneating trend and are learning that veges are actually kind of awesome. Need a little bit more convincing? Well the new vegetarian menu from uber stylish Sokyo will have you easily surpassing your recommended 5-a-day. With asparagus tempura and a rockin’ veg roll on the menu, it’s the perfect way to get a jump start on your 2016 resolutions.
