The Flying Nun
Samford Village is definitely about as north as you can get, and The Flying Nun fits straight into the ‘totally worth the drive’ basket. This gorgeous renovated church serves up breakfast and lunch with special dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. Their modern Australian menu is seasonal and fresh #SamfordValleyPerks.
The Tiller Coffee
Nestled neatly underneath the old Alderley chimney stack is a shipping container and a small patio set up for The Tiller Coffee. Perfect for a morning chill out, study group or just a catch-up, the folks at Tiller look after you with darn good coffee and a simple but delicious menu (say yes to the bagels!). Your four-legged friends are welcome too—bonus!
Nana and Da’s
If Nana and Da’s isn’t already your second home then it sure will be after you visit. Sitting happily in the quiet backstreets of Kedron, Nana and Da’s is a go-to for locals loving the home-style food and drinks as well as the friendly service. Did we mention they make their strawberry milkshakes with real strawberries? Go there. NOW.
Alcove Café and Deli
Trust us when we say that seriously good food and coffee awaits you at Alcove Café and Deli. This Brisbane cafe gem makes is tucked in Wilston Village and will make you want to come back for more every time. Their lamb koftas on the breakfast menu are ace and their specialty coffee is perfection. Honestly, what have you been doing if you’ve never been here?
Humpybong Café and Bar
If you know about Humpybong, you’ve either heard about it from a friend who heard it from a friend or you have randomly stumbled across it while walking through Stafford’s industrial precinct (naturally...). Serving up awesome coffee, pastries, cakes and grab-and-go lunches 7-days a week, plus rotating craft beer, pizzas and pulled pork burgers from Thursday to Sunday, you have every reason to check them out.
Hansell and Gretel
Gaythorne is home to great little breakfast bar, Hansell and Gretel. Their menu is filled with delicious and unique dishes that will raise a few eyebrows, but totlly worth going out on a limb for! Their ‘I’m Not Sure’ menu item has pretty much everything on the menu on one plate so you don’t have to decide. They say it’s perfect for two but, you know, when you’re hungry…
Fuel & CO.
No matter where you are in Brisbane, Fuel & CO. is a goodun. You can’t go wrong with their ace fresh salads or their huge and heavenly fruit hotcakes so really, northsiders get into it and everyone else, make tracks this weekend?
