With cruffins, cronuts and crizzas (croissant/pizza—don’t know if it’s a thing yet but it should be) taking Brisbane by storm, the simple quiche can often be overlooked in the cabinets of Brisbane’s best bakeries. The poor thing has a hard time, battling it out next to Nutella and salted caramel explosions, but it’s time that we all acknowledge how cracker the classic, crispy pastry really is.
Here’s where to find the quichest quiche in Brisbane:
Crust & Co
Tucked away on a tree-lined suburban street, Crust & Co’s creations confidently parade themselves on the shelves, just begging to be eaten. The deliciously fluffy range of quiches can be bought by the piece, or if that’s not enough take the whole darn thing home for $25.
Flour & Chocolate
Bacon and brie, vegetable and feta, and mushroom and ricotta all baked fresh that day are the flavours that have crowds flocking to Flour & Chocolate each day. To spice up an event or just an average Monday, you can order 12 or more mini quiches for some very impressive hors d’oeuvres.
Known amongst locals for their tasty brownie, the quiches at Brewbakers are coupled well with a cup of coffee on a cool day. Served bite size, the mushroom and bacon quiches from this exceptional Brisbane bakery are made with sourdough and have that very desirable crunch.
Jocelyn Provision’s is a haven for New Farm locals, and one of the best bakeries in Brisbane, providing the finest handmade sweets and pastries to take home and pretend you baked yourself, to your dinner guests’ delight. The pumpkin, sweet potato and parmesan quiche is a crowd pleaser.
The Baker’s Arms
The bake house that will surely welcome you with open arms and warm quiches is one to put on the to-do list. You’ll rarely have to look at the menu at The Baker’s Arms, as the cabinet of this cracking Brisbane bakery is always overflowing with delicious sweet treats and delightful quiches that are first class.
Handcrafted French pastries fill the cabinets at Chouquette Boulangerie Patisserie, and although it might be hard to pass up a flaky almond croissant for a quiche from one of Brisbane’s best bakeries, hear me out. Not only will you get to munch on crunchy pastry, but you are also blessed with a creamy savoury filling. Maybe get the almond croissant for dessert too.
Chester Street Bakery and Bar
Chester Street Bakery and Bar knows what’s up when it comes to the perfect quiche, and you can get your fix virtually any hour of the day. The very practical size of this quiche also leaves room for an epic milkshake or a side of rainbow cake.
