Nope, you read that right; Brisbane’s getting a giant indoor ski slope. In the sub-tropics. Where it’s effing hot. Mind. BLOWN.
Urban Xtreme is bringing winter to us (just in time for Christmas—YAS), opening a massive indoor ski field in Hendra this weekend! Finally, we don’t have to book that exxy flight north of the equator to experience the thrills of shredding that sweet fresh pow.
We know what you’re thinking though, how can you ski in Brisbane when the humidity melts the very essence of the people? Well, the ski fields aren’t technically snow, they’re in fact a dry ski slope, which perfectly simulates the feeling of hitting the slopes at a whooping 20,000 feet (without that dreaded chill factor or, you know, the melting). Science-y or what?
With rotating runs to keep it interesting, plus all-ability ski and snowboarding lessons to get you looking like a total pro on the slopes, Urban Xtreme is definitely the place if you’re hunting down an adrenaline rush.
So, if you’re wanting to shake up the holiday routine, it’s not really a question as to whether or not you’ll be hitting the (indoor) slopes. You clearly will. Did someone say après ski?
Keep your eyes peeled, too, because Urban Xtreme is set to be adding even more exciting activities to their repertoire in the coming months (Xtreme Ninja course, we’re looking at you!).
