Deep Fried Crème Eggs Have Arrived In Brisbane—Life Is Complete

Hold on to your calorie count, Brisbane because your Easter eating habits are about to hit a new high (we clearly mean an irresponsible-yet-delicious low).

The crazy kids over at The Flying Cock have noticed a gap in the Easter chocolate market, combining the not-so-humble Cadbury Crème Egg with the depths of their deep fat fryer.

For obvious reasons, this is now the most-wanted Easter treat in all of Brisbane—probably ever—, so of course you’re going to have to get yourself down to Fortitude Valley’s resident rooster and try it for yourself.

‘Why doesn’t it melt?’ is exactly what we asked ourselves, too, but the kitchen at the Cock is far too clever to let a choccie egg waste away in their beloved fat fryer. Wrapped in cake batter, the delicate crème egg is then plunged into the deep fat fryer until golden on the outside, gooey AF on the inside.

It begs the question, ‘why has no one thought of this before’?

To add a few more guilt-laden calories into the mix, this decadent dessert is served on a bed of chocolate (it is Easter, after all) with burnt toffee ice cream and edible flowers, because, flamboyance. Extra doesn’t even cover it. Be quick though, there’s only 100 of these beauties available between Thursday and Easter Sunday, so ‘hop’ to it.

Happy Easter everyone: no doubt we’ll all be donning our baggiest muu muus next week…
