Gordita Opens on M&A Lane

Fans of The Barracks' Peasant and Cabiria, and Caxton Street's Lefty's Old Time Music Hall rejoice, there's a new addition to Brisbane restaurateur Jamie Webb's throng of high quality venues: Gordita.

Opening in The Valley's M&A Lane restaurant block tonight, Gordita—which takes its name from the Spanish phrase for cute, chubby women— specialises in wholesome, market-style Southern Spanish cuisine. The shared tapas plates and char-grilled meats carved table-side should be glorious (if the authentic fare at Peasant is any indication) but in this venue the food itself is on equal footing with the bar, which will host a collection of seasonal cocktails and rotating draught beers and function as the heart and soul of the space.

Diners can sit and eat at the bar (a feature we rate very highly in a good late-night spot) and the space is built for larger groups—making Gordita any easy fit for the area's bustling night crowd.

Gordita is open tonight for dinner, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights for both lunch and dinner.
