No, that is not a typo, Brisbane really does have a secret gin distillery!
Some of you might already know the name Humpybong; the under-the-radar Brisbane café punching well above its weight in Stafford.
It’s been a local secret for a while now and they’re known for pumping out cracking coffee of a morning. Add to that top notch brekkies, lunches and dinner (of a weekend), and serving up chilled local craft brews until just shy of midnight Thursday through Sunday, it’s a pretty pumping spot. Talk about a local lock in.
So, you think that would be good enough right? WRONG.
What did the team behind Humpybong go and do? They only went and converted the warehouse next door into a bespoke gin distillery and created the very first Brisbane made gin. Hello Humpybong Gin Distillery! Small batch made and created from Australian sourced ingredients, Humpybong gin is one of a handful of locally made gins to hit the shelves.
Behind the painted roller doors is where the magic happens; their large open bar and relaxed industrial-style space is the ideal spot to perch on a hot afternoon—beer in hand (gin in the other).
Come down for a feed and a G&T or two, perhaps even take a tour of the distillery. The Humpybong crew are super friendly and are keen to show off their flourishing, local botanicals.
While you can’t buy their gin direct (yet), you can pick up a cheeky bottle form the legends over at Craft, in Red Hill.
Northsiders, sometimes you get all the fun.
