We’re always torn with articles like this. Do we tell you guys about the new secret drinks menu at Salt Coffee Roasters in Newstead, or do we keep them all for ourselves?
In the interests of public deliciousness, we’re going to spread this news. So here it goes: Salt has unleashed a very covert new range of specialty drinks. They’re not on the menu. Salt hasn’t told anyone about them. You kind of just have to know (or have a good friend like Urban List—wink).
The drinks list is the result of late-night experimentation from Salt’s talented baristas (some of whom will be competing in the ASCA Barista Championships). And we’re the only ones in town with the scoop.
Here’s what the crew are cooking up, strictly off the books:
Tillerman: an iced honeymoon tea with lemon and honey foam. It tastes like a liquid beehive.
Built For Comfort: possibly Brisbane’s best hot chocolate, made from 24-hour infused hazelnut and almond milk, with dark choc ganache and toasted marshmallows.
Strawberry Fields: a single origin espresso, muddled with strawberry jam and lime. Wild stuff.
Shrub: an old-school blueberry soda, mixed from house-made syrup. Think American 50s soda shops.
If 6 was 9: A single origin shot, topped with dry ice. This thing is served in a huge, bubbling test tube and is (frankly) the craziest thing we’ve seen in a café.
'If 6 was 9'
So there you go. Just head into Salt, nudge the barista and order one of those bad boys. They’ll give you a cryptic nod and start mixing. Thank us later.
In other food news, this Brisbane bar is doing $12 all-you-can-eat dumplings.
