As part of a national tour, reputed journalist Hedley Thomas is coming to Brisbane to discuss the podcast’s monumental success, and share what drives him in the ongoing mission to seek justice for Lyn Dawson.
Lyn Dawson vanished more than 35 years ago with the case considered cold, destined to fade until Thomas unearthed it. Earlier this year he rolled out a podcast for The Australian called ‘The Teacher’s Pet’, which is a testament to 15 years of hard work investigating Lyn’s disappearance. Over the course of the podcast we heard Thomas dredge up the long-dead history of the case, asking difficult questions that challenged the integrity of the initial investigation and leaving no one safe from scrutiny.
The podcast garnered international attention and has so far been downloaded 30 million times. With such a spotlight on the investigation, the case has been reopened and subsequently, Chris Dawson was arrested for Lyn’s murder earlier in December 2018. Facing the Magistrate’s Court in Southport He has been extradited to NSW where he is expected to face trial for Lyn’s murder.
Which, for obvious reasons, makes Thomas' Australian tour all the more timely. No doubt these tickets will sell out in a matter of hours, so we suggest getting onto it ASAP if you want the chance to get front and centre with the man that reignted one of the world's most interesting cold cases.
