The all-American theme continues this week, with the opening of New Orleans inspired Papa Jack's Bar and Restaurant, in the Fortitude Valley's new M&A Lane last night.
Perched on the corner of McLachlan and Connor Streets, Papa Jack's is the new baby of Brisbane bar legends, Marco and Emily Nunes (creators of Woolloongabba's much loved, Canvas), and the drinks menu and fit out of this Deep South watering hole are as impressive a venture as you'd expect from these two.
A brass topped bar is all set for long drinks and tall talk, and the cocktail list includes a frozen bourbon milk punch, hurricane cocktails, and the house specialty, the Sazerac: a cognac and whiskey cocktail that's rumoured to be America's oldest, which will be available on tap or made on the spot. There will also be American and local craft beers available to wash down the Creole menu offerings.
Po' boy sandwiches, gumbo, burgers, beignets, share plates and daily sweet pies (!), among other bayou delicacies, make up the menu.
Papa Jack's will also be home to live jazz, R&B and blues and roots, adding to this venue's moody, bluesy appeal.
Papa Jack's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For opening hours, and all the details click here.
