Struggling to find somewhere to eat, drink and be merry this ANZAC Day in Brisbane? Fear not, for Brisbane has answered your call with a slew of bars, cafes and restaurants open this ANZAC Day. All you have to do is gather the squad, don your best 'I’m going to eat/drink way too much today and I’m okay with that' outfit and get cracking.
ANZAC Day might be all about commemorating our diggers, past and present, but it is also the crown jewel in a string of public holidays that simply can’t be wasted vegging out on the couch after the annual dawn service.
Here's what's open in Brisbane this ANZAC DAY.
Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills
Sometimes the best way to celebrate ANZAC Day includes chowing down on some deliciously authentic Northern Chinese dumplings—which is why it’s great that Fortitude Valley staple Fat Dumpling will be opening their doors to the public tomorrow.
Sichuan Bang Bang
With physical locations in Kenmore, Paddington and Wilston, and an online delivery service through UberEATS, Sichuan Bang Bang has pretty much got all your ANZAC-day spicy Chinese food cravings covered. Drawing inspiration from the Sichuan Province, Sichuan Bang Bang isn’t messing around when it comes to flavour.
Kin + Co
Touted as one of the best brunch spots in Brisbane, Kin + Co lives up to the hype with an all-day breakfast menu that’ll more than satisfy your post-dawn service smashed avo cravings. Located in the lush green surrounds of Teneriffe, Kin + Co boasts such dishes as avocado on sourdough with edamame, sumac and a local honey roasted lemon wedge, house-made chicken and leek pies in a creamy garlic gravy and spiced baked eggs with a bean medley and roasted garlic yoghurt, all served on warm Turkish bread.
If there’s any Brisbane café that knows a damn good avo on toast when it sees one, it’s Plum Tucker. One of Red Hill’s not-so-best-kept secrets, Plum Tucker is a family-friendly café dedicated to serving up only the best quality produce, sourced from sustainable farms and organic suppliers from the local area. Throw into the mix coffee prepared by an award-wining barista and you’ve got yourself a morning well spent. ANZAC morning plans, sorted.
Another Brisbane favourite, Pawpaw Café, will be dishing up their iconic Thai and Balinese-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes on ANZAC Day. All our favourites are available, like sweet potato pad thai (which also comes in a vegan or vegetarian form), chilli popcorn chicken and the nourishing Bali bowl—which includes avocado, beetroot, pumpkin, quinoa, a poached egg and curried aioli.
Chowing down on breakfast and lunch at Billykart Kitchen is just like having breakfast at your Mum’s—just WAY better (sorry Mum!). The team at Billykart produce all their own cakes, jams, cream and butters in-house, so you know their seasonal menu is always going to be up to snuff. Boasting dishes like brioche French toast, with fresh strawberries and lavender syrup, and eggs benedict with smoked Ora King salmon, Billykart knows their stuff when it comes to dining with flair.
