Where to Take a Man for Lunch | Popolo

By Sophia McMeekin - 10 Jul 2013

Guys, we know you spend a lot of time and attention choosing just the right location to take a lady for a special meal out. Unfortunately, not quite so much thought is given to selecting a good location to take a man. But we think gents deserve a nice meal as much as the ladies do, and so, with that in mind, we went on the hunt for the ideal men's lunch location.

If you're looking for a venue that is sure to be a man-pleaser (or even a great location for a testosterone-heavy lunch meeting) you want to ensure everyone leaves with adequately full stomachs. And we have found just the place. The gang at Popolo, in the heart of South Bank's hottest new dining destination, River Quay, and just a hop and skip across the river from the CBD, understand that the way to please a man often involves a large amount of carbs, lavish serves of meat, and sweeping city views to sit back and enjoy with a fine drop.

popolo italian brisbane

Embracing that Italian sense of hospitality and enjoying food, wine, and friends together, Popolo is one restaurant that isn't afraid to serve generous portions. Serving up simple Italian fare, just as it should be, Popolo has taken a contemporary, pasta-free approach to Italian cuisine. But don't despair guys, just because they are pasta free doesn't mean you'll go hungry. There are still plenty of your Italian favourites on offer.

Their decadent array of pizzas (think pepperoni, funghi mushroom, and pancetta), house-made ricotta gnocchi, and risottos are out of this world. And there's plenty on the menu to please the carnivores. Popolo can serve you and your group a whole Kingaroy suckling pig (also available in a half serve), whole, oven-baked market fish, as well as free-range chicken with truffle butter, and the finest grain-fed sirloin.

And because Popolo understands how much boys enjoy their carbs, they are offering a lunch-time special that is going to blow you out of the water. For the rest of winter, you can enjoy a river-side lunch of either pizza or risotto, and two house beverages, for only $25.
