There’s a fair bit going in Perth these days, some of us struggle to keep up. Luckily though, we have lovingly curated a list of some of the best events popping up in Perth this month, so you can spend less time googling ‘what’s happening this weekend’ and more time slinging back wines.
And to make it even better, all these events are bank account-friendly, so you don’t even need to feel guilty—and you can spend that extra money on more wine.
Here are 9 of the best free events happening in Perth this April.
Saturday 1 April, Hyde Park
RTRFM 92.1 is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a series of events, and its starts with the Neon Picnic. What’s a neon picnic, you ask? Its where you can come watch live radio happen from 9am to 5pm in Hyde Park with some of RTR’s best presenters. It will also feature some of the best live local music from bands performing classics and new faves, as well as food trucks and a licensed bar.
Pop Up Maker And Designer Market
Saturday 1 April, Floreat Forum
Have you got anyone’s birthday, anniversary or engagement coming up that you need to buy a rad gift for? Look no further than the Floreat pop up markets, which bring you some of the best local handmade and designed creations. More than 30 Perth artisans, creatives and small businesses will be setting up shop and selling their artwork, candles, decor items, stationery, skincare, beauty products, jewellery, clothing, kids accessories, unique gifts and sweet treats. Even if you don’t need to buy gifts, you can still head along to enjoy the free live music, entertainment and gorge on some of the delicious food from the food stalls.
Sunday 2 April, North Perth
Are you one of those people whose Instagram is full of pictures of your dog? Or someone who goes to a dog beach even though you don’t have a dog? If yes, then this event was made for you. The WA Pet Project is an amazing little animal rescue organisation that finds homes for pets, and they’re celebrating their first birthday with the free event, PetFest! If you have a pet, head along to take in all the activities, events and stalls providing help and products for your furry friend. And if you don’t, you should still go so you can cuddle other people’s pets, and enjoy tasty treats from the food stalls.
Jazz In The Park
Thursday 6 & 13 April, Kalamunda
Imagine sitting in a beautiful park, stars above, the sweet sound of smooth jazz fills the air and you’re enjoying wine and cheese. On two Thursday’s in April, this non-profit band will be performing a variety of music from Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and many more. Taking place in Stirk Park, you simply rock up with your picnic and enjoy. And if the music is that good that you feel guilty listening to it for free, you can take part in the band’s raffle which supports their performances.
The Subiaco Street Party
Saturday 8 April, Subiaco
The streets of Subi will come alive for the second annual Subiaco Street Party. Last year’s inaugural event saw about 35,000 people descend on Rokeby Road to take in the celebrations, so you can bet your bottom dollar this year will be even bigger. There’s free music, entertainment and art, as well food, streetside pop-up bars, fashion and shopping stalls, all featuring local Subi businesses.
Food Trucks In The Valley
Sunday 9 April, Swan Valley

Thursday 13 April, Rosemount Hotel
Easter is synonymous with drum and bass. We’ve always said that. So obviously, the only proper way to truly celebrate the re-birth of Christ is by attending Perth’s biggest free drum and bass party. The Rosemont is bringing exactly that, and they’re pulling out all the stops and cultivating a killer line up to make this year’s absolutely massive.
Fremantle International Street Arts Festival
Thursday 13 April, Fremantle
