Long hot days and balmy summer nights are finally upon us, can we get a collective hell yeah?!

When the 30-degree days have you working up a sweat, here are some of Perth’s best cold drinks you should reach for this summer—minus the booze.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee | Le Vietnam

Perth

Vietnamese iced coffee, or cà phê đá for those of you playing at home, is a glorious caffeinated creation made with coffee and sweetened condensed milk. It’s the perfect entry-level coffee thanks to the sweetness, but it’s worth noting that the buzz sticks around for a lot longer than your usual latte. For one of the best Vietnamese iced coffees in Perth head to Le Vietnam in the CBD.

Acai-ting Smoothie | Acai Brothers

Fremantle

Tart and zingy, acai has got to be one of the best summer fruits. Don’t believe me, head to Acai Brothers, try their Acai-ting smoothie and let me know what you think once you’ve gulped down every last drop. Made with our fave Amazonian berry (obvi), coconut water, lemon, banana and strawberry—it’s uber refreshing and ultra summery.

Iced Salted Caramel | Duende

Leederville

What’s better than an iced chocolate? The iced salted caramel from Leedy fave, Duende. They also serve a bunch of lovely iced teas if you’re not in the mood for creamy.

Cold Brew Milkshake | Daphne

Northbridge

Our favourite little cafe in Northbridge is now serving cold brew milkshakes—we love you Daphne. Made with cold brew concentrate and vanilla bean gelato from Stampede, this is what summer dreams are made of.

Iced Taro Latte | tbsp.

Bayswater

If you haven’t yet tried taro, the purple-tinged root vegetable, head straight to tbsp. in Bayswater and order their iced taro latte. It won’t disappoint!

Voyager Sangria | Bathers Beach House

Fremantle

The Voyager Sangria at Bathers Beach House is uber refreshing—made with Voyager estate red grape juice, Monin sangria syrup and fresh cut fruits. These guys also serve a winning mocktail with lemon sorbet, passionfruit, banana, mango, mint and coconut water, dubbed the Caribbean Coconut.

Coconut Shake | Three Sisters

Leederville

Leederville’s newbie Vietnamese joint, Three Sisters, make a mean coconut shake. Creamy, coconutty, icy goodness—blended into a white-as-white-can-be milkshake. It’s the epitome of summer.

Iced Matcha Latte | Little Matcha Girl

South Perth

When you’re in the mood for matcha, there’s no better place to go than to the pros at Little Matcha Girl in South Perth. While you’re there be sure to grab one of their almost-too-pretty-to-eat cakes.

Nitro Cold Brew | Pixel Coffee Brewers

Leederville

Three words: nitro cold brew. You needn’t bother drinking anything else this summer. Except for Pixel’s home-brewed kombucha of course.

Oatmeal Smoothie | Tiisch

Perth

Oats, banana, dates, cinnamon and almond milk whizzed into a glorious creamy smoothie. Tiisch, we love you and your genius ways.

Lemon Ginger Tonic | Garden Cafe On Guildford

Maylands

The juices at Maylands’ Garden Cafe On Guildford are some of the best we have tasted in Perth, especially the lemon ginger tonic. It’s got the perfect balance of zing and tang, the best for hot summer days.

Iced Everything | Harvest Espresso

East Victoria Park

Harvest Espresso are kings in the drink department. Not only have they got almost every type of iced tea under the sun, they serve iced red espressos, matchas, coffees, chocolates and chais.

Lemonade | Odyssea

City Beach

On your next beach trip, stop by Odyssea for one of their homemade lemonades. They’ve got a yummy lemongrass and Thai basil lemonade, as well as a classic lemonade.

Peanut Butter Milkshake | Whisk Creamery

Northbridge & Subiaco

If you can stop yourself from ordering Perth’s newest ice cream sensation, Taiyaki, the peanut butter milkshake from Whisk Creamery has your name all over it. What could be better than peanut butter in milkshake form?

Bubble Tea | Presotea

Various Locations

Bubble tea is so fun. Big straws, sago balls, crazy jellies and fun cups—top it up with water and we’d still drink it. In summer though, we think it’s best to opt for the ice varieties at Presotea to really help you cool down.

Golden Gaytime Milkshake | Babooshka

Northbridge

Before you reach for the car keys and head out the door, let me tell you a little more about this beauty. Caramel flavoured shake topped with mounds of chocolate covered honeycomb—the Golden Gaytime milkshake from Babooshka is the stuff dreams are made of. Ok, you can go now!
