Iconic Australian flavours like Vegemite, pavlova and ANZAC biscuits always get plenty of attention, but what about the unsung hero that is bacon and eggs? Frankly, the duo has been underappreciated for too long, but no longer—La Macelleria has created a bacon and egg gelato celebrating our favourite breakfast food (sorry avo on toast) for Australia Day.
Set to be scooped up only on Sunday 26 January, the deliciously creamy treat mixes smoked bacon infused egg-based gelato with maple syrup candied bacon pieces. You’ll be able to get your hands on it at La Macelleria’s Teneriffe and Coorparoo locations, but once it’s gone, it’s gone, so get in quick. Not to mention, this is pretty much the only excuse you’ll ever have to eat gelato for breakfast, so jump on it, yeah?
We’ve been told to stay tuned for some other pretty novel flavours coming soon, so if you miss out, all is not lost. If you’re not one to suffer FOMO though, best hit the iconic gelateria first thing on Australia Day.
