Ah, the humble nugget. The pinnacle of chicken technology. We’re not too sure which bit of a chicken goes into making a nugget, and to be honest we don’t want to know. The important thing is: there’s a festival dedicated to nuggets, and it’s coming to Brisbane next. Freaking. Month.
It’s the latest zany scheme from the team behind newbie food truck park Welcome To Bowen Hills—whose job it is to sit around, drink beer, and come up with awesome and outrageous ideas. Not jealous. After Melbourne sister food truck hub, Welcome To Thornberry's wildly successful, inaugural chicken nugget festival, this same group of legends thought Brisbane deserved a day dedicated to nuggs, too.
So, what does a chicken nugget festival look like, exactly? Basically a sh*t-tonne of nuggets (what were you expecting?). The guys at WTBH are also promising limited-edition spicy nuggets, a nugget burger, plus a range of dipping sauces from some of Brisbane's finest sauce makers.
There’s even rumour of a dessert nugget (your guess is as good as ours). We’ll approach that one with a mixture of appetite and caution.
Expect the usual motley food truck crew, including Mr Burger (read: nugget burger), Belles Hot Chicken, King Of The Wings and many more to be announced. The bar will be running all day, slinging beers and nugget-themed drink specials. Entry is free, as usual, and pooches are more than welcome.
Where: Welcome To Bowen Hills, Gregory Terrace Bowen Hills
When: From 12pm, Saturday and Sunday, 27-27 May

PS. Yeah, we went out and bought nuggets specifically to eat and take this photo. That's just the kind of journalists we are. You're welcome.
