It's Friday, and you know what that means . . . it's TGIF Mixtape time! Yet again, this week, we've got someone putting in the hard yards for us and creating an epic playlist for you guys. This week, our kind contributor, is Jamie Trevaskis from one of our favourite Brisbane bars, The Junk Bar, and we caught up with him for a few quick q's and some musical musings.
TUL: Describe in one sentence what you do for work?
JT: I record music based around analogue gear for bands and myself in my Junkship studio, nestled on Mount Nebo. And, when I'm not on the mountain, I work at my bar in Ashgrove,The Junk Bar...
TUL: How would you describe your music preferences?
JT: My musical background is my own self-taught passion. I owned the Troubadour music venue in Fortitude Valley for 8 years and now a vinyl obsessed bar in Ashgrove.
TUL: What is your ideal holiday destination?
JT: A rainy, misty day stuck on a mountain. No travel.
TUL: Which band or artist is dominating your speakers at the moment?
JT: David Eugene Edwards.
TUL: Favorite cocktail?
JT: At the moment it is a negroni.
TUL: A band that you might not listen to but I suggest you should . . .
JT: Mark Hollis solo record.
TUL: Best gig you've been to?
JT: Bill Callahan 2 nights at the troubadour. There are so many, but start there.
TUL: Best way to spend $50?
JT: Visit a thrift store.
TUL: Best way to spend $500?
JT: A quick holiday.
TUL: The place in Brisbane I'm most excited about at the moment is…
JT: The Elm House in Mt Nebo or Ya Ya Bar and Eatery at Samford.
TUL: Last place I went for a drink…
