Welcome to the foodie takeover that will no doubt define your winter feasting over the next few weeks. Camperdown’s staple farm-to-plate joint, Acre Eatery, is transforming into an Italian farmhouse for the chilly months and your body is more than ready.
Kicking off July 1, Acre’s dining room, lawn and al fresco garden terrace will charge up its menu (all thanks to executive chef Gareth Howard) to serve up the best feeds inspired by regional Italian home-style cooking, as well as hosting a sling of artisan tastings, wine pairings and immersive culinary events.
You’ll be able to crack into this menu Wednesdays through Sundays and expect a full breakfast, lunch and dinner takeover. That means you’re in for early eats like Sicilian breakfast with black pig ham and night feeds like wood-fired focaccia with wagyu beef candle. Italian-inspired desserts will also cameo in the form of glazed fruit tarts, cannoli and tiramisu.
There’s also a number of collaborative dinners to hit up including a truffle infused menu created with truffle grower and wine producer 4 Winds and a candlelitSicilian banquet.
If you’re keen to get more hands-on, Acre is hosting a revolving series of tastings and workshops every Friday which range from perfecting Porchetta in an outdoor woodfire, learning to knead dough and making fresh mozzarella.
