Tantalising Chinese For All: Meat Lovers, Vegetarians & Coeliacs

Fu Manchu, in Darlinghurst, is a Chinese restaurant with a difference—it offers Chinese/Malaysian cuisine and the result is a menu peppered with light, flavoursome, and varied dishes. Fu Manchu also caters to coeliacs, vegetarians, and meat lovers—all are welcome. 

In 2012, Fu Manchu took the bold move of relocating to the Kirketon Hotel on Darlinghurst Road, around the corner from its former Victoria Street location. It was considered bold as the new premises is four times the size and the space has been frequently vacated. 

Happily, this is a success story. Fu Manchu's tables are on high rotation night after night. The interior design is a mixture of modern and contemporary Chinese aesthetics and the service is extremely hospitable. 

The drawcard behind Fun Manchu's loyal following is the fact the food is filled with flavour, yet is incredibly light. The prices are also very attractive, making it a great option for any night of the week.

Highly recommended to begin with are: the pumpkin Steamed Gow Gee Dumplings, the meat Sang Choi Bao, and the Chili Salt Cuttlefish—YUM! Following, try the Indonesian-style Beef Rendang, the Roast Duck Plate, and the Steamed Eggplant and Doufu. The house broths are fantastic also, especially on a cold, rainy night.
