Here are Leona's impeccable race-day tips, to help you look your most fabulous trackside self.
TUL: Known to many as the 'Queen of Frocks', your label is a favourite on race day. What are the key trends in womenswear this Spring Racing season?

Leona Edmiston: Colour blocking is very strong, mixed florals, strong graphics and of course black and white. Pink is the highlight colour for the season.

TUL: What makes for the perfect trackside outfit?

Leona: Something stylish and chic for the day, but with that touch that sets it apart from the rest—whether it's a fabulous hat or an amazing dress

TUL: And can you tell us your race-day essentials?

Leona: Sunblock, phone for finding friends at the track and in the tents, and of course shoes that have been worn in.

TUL: Attending Melbourne Cup each year, have you observed a standout sartorial moment?

Leona: Two standouts—one was very simple and one was very extravagant. A beautiful blonde in a Collette Dinnigan black sheath with a simple cloche hat who won Fashions On The Field that day, and the other was Tara Moss in a white J'Aton corset dress— outstandingly striking!

TUL: What's your highlight of the day when attending Melbourne Cup?

Leona: Definitely the running of the race, the atmosphere is electric, the noise of the crowd is incredible—everyone in Australia is shouting and cheering for their horse!

TUL: What antics have shocked you trackside?

Leona: None, after a day of champagne nothing shocks you!

TUL: How do you pick your winners on race day?

Leona: I always ask those in the know—Bernie Brooks the CEO of Myer loves his racing and gives the best tips.

TUL: What can we look forward to for Leona Edmiston in 2014?

Leona: The perfect dress for any occasion—amazing and unique prints that we are so excited about and of course fabulous shapes.

Leona:

* Pelicano Bar in Double Bay for a cocktail.

* The Boathouse in Palm Beach for brunch and coffee!

* Harlequin Markets in Double bay for the best costume jewellery.

* The Country Trader in Waterloo for lust-have pieces.

* McLeod's Antiques—a treasure trove of Chinese antiquity on Dowling Street, Paddington.
