Sydney’s Best Moonlight Cinemas | 2016 Edit

By Alice I'Anson - 16 Nov 2016

St George OpenAir Cinema Sydney

Nothing says summer more than the reopening of Sydney’s moonlight cinemas. Balmy nights, starry skies and beanbags— what’s not to love? They’re a great way to mix-up the week and a slightly more cultured alternative to the classic Sunday session. Don’t worry, you can guarantee there will always be fab food and bevvies at the ready.

We’ve put together our favourite Sydney moonlight cinemas. Now it’s up to you whether you can get to them all before daylight savings ends. Twice. Go on, we dare you.

Centennial Park

The original Moonlight Cinema is coming back to Sydney, fiiiiiinally. Spend a night cuddled up under the stars watching your favorite flicks and if you want to make it an extra special treat, splash out on a Gold Grass ticket. This will get you a premium viewing location, complete with a bean-bed (bags are so GA) and just to sweeten the deal you won’t have to lift a finger, your mignons, we mean hosts, will attend to all your food and beverage desires.

Speaking of food, an epic selection of LA inspired street food eats will be on hand to curb you’re hunger, including warm Nutella donuts. The program hasn’t been released yet but it will be soon. .

The Hills Outdoor Cinema

Things are getting serious out West. The Hills Outdoor Cinema is coming to Castle Hill in January 2017. Choose between multiple viewing options to suit your needs, we like the sound of Koala Class (ticket includes a koala – well, maybe not exactly). They are screening some absolute winners, like the Grease sing-a-long, don’t try to act cool we know you’re excited AF.  The menu is still top secret but we think it’s a safe bet when we say the pop-up café will certainly satisfy your hungry bellies.
