There’s a Black Star Pastry Pop-Up Coming to the CBD

Ready yourselves for some serious carb loading. Black Star Pastry is bringing its pastry treats (and legendary strawberry watermelon cake) to Kinokuniya bookshop in The Galeries on October 29th for six glorious months. We can’t think of anyone better to take over the café space, especially when they make a mean cup of Little Marionette coffee too.

If it’s anything like their Newtown bakery, we know things are going to get pretty busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait… But hey, you know it’s going to be worth it. If you want to win the “world’s best employee” award, pick up a Black Star cake for the next office birthday and brace yourself for all those corporate high fives coming your way (well, maybe not).

The award winning, queue-forming lamb pie will no doubt become a lunch stop staple, and we all know where we’ll be having croissants for breakfast before work.

If you can’t wait until October, Black Star are also whipping up a sweet Japanese inspired collab with N2 gelato at The Galeries from the 24th-27th of September, to celebrate spring.

For more ‘grammable dessert moments, the same weekend they will also be offering a very special collaboration with Katherine Sabbath. Inspired by the Great Barrier Reef, the coconut, custard and apple mousse cake will feature passionfruit gelee and a macaron clam, with crushed meringue and pandan sugar glass. If that’s a mouthful, it’s probably because our faces are full of cake.
