Keeping up with the best events, new openings, pop ups, and good things to eat in Sydney is no mean feat (and we would know!). To make your life that little bit easier, and because we love a good list, we’ve teamed up with Peroni to bring you What’s Trending: A one-stop guide to everything worth checking out in your city this month, so you won’t miss a thing.
Summer is over and we can feel the cold kicking in already. To keep you and your crew #sorted all month long we’ve rounded up the ten hottest things happening in Sydney this March—they’re sure to keep you warm and cosy all over.
#1. Get Your Adult On At Handa Opera
Sort your life out (it’s March already, you guys) and get adult AF at Handa Opera at Mrs Macquaries Chair. Set against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, this pop up opera involves fireworks, food and alllll of the tunes. Dress up in your Sunday best and impress your mate (or your date).
#2. Long Lunch At Hotel Centennial
Nothing beats a long lunch in the autumn and there's no better place to do it than at Hotel Centennial. With a new menu that will make you want to stay well into the night (think smoked duck salad and succulent steak), grab your crew and order one of everything.
#3. Watch Waterpolo By The Sea At Icebergs
The world’s best water polo players are returning to Bondi for the hottest—in more ways than one—sporting event, Nexba Water Polo by the Sea. Hosted at Icebergs, the Aussie Sharks will take on the International All-Stars (from Europe and USA) so grab yourself some VIP ticks, devour tacos from Contrabando and enjoy the view.
#4. Kick Back At Sydney’s Bed Cinema
Get your snuggle buddy at the ready, Sydney’s outdoor bed cinema is back so you can crawl under the covers in front of the big screen in total and utter comfort. Watch the best films of 2016 under the stars and you won’t be judged for napping, in fact, it’s encouraged.
#5. Join The March Movement
Start spreading good vibes everywhere you go courtesy of the March Movement. Sign up and commit to doing one good deed a day, every day, for the month of (you guessed it) March, and see how what a difference you can make to someone’s day (be it your neighbour, your mum or yourself).
#6. Stuff Yourself Silly At Taste Of Sydney
Taste of Sydney is one of our fave events of the year because it’s all about feasting. There will be plenty of treats (aka free samples) from some of the best in the biz (Kensington Street Social and Bouche on Bridge), as well as a music hub and live cooking demonstrations, so you can totes get down and boogie while watching the pros do their thing.
#7. Bid Farewell To Summer At A Moveable Feast
Set smack bang in the centre of Bondi Beach, A Moveable Feast is an Instagrammers paradise. With a compulsory pastel beach chic dress code, this stylish AF 8 course feast is like a pop up dinner party on the sand and bound to be a good time.
#8. A New Orleans Themed Foodie Carnival Is Coming
Lovers of smoky Southern-style meats unite! A New Orleans themed foodie carnival is coming and we couldn’t be more excited. Dine on oysters Rockefeller, po’boy sandwiches and Creole smoked chicken Maryland for a week straight, and get down and groove to classic country and blues (just like they do in the movies).
#9. Walk The Walk For A Good Cause
Get your step count up to over 10,000 all day, erry day (well, for at least one day) and join Coastrek. Walk 60km in less than 18 hours to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation, and work off those Easter eggs we all know you’ve already started eating.
#10. Get Your Art Fix At The MCA’s Primavera At 25
If you’re looking for a splash of culture (and a trendy AF bar), don’t look past the MCA. Currently on show (and not to be missed) is Primavera at 25: The MCA Collection, showcasing the work of young and up-and-coming Australian artists.
