After work drink spots in the CBD may be everywhere, but an after-work drinks spot with really exceptional food, fast service and an impossible-to-beat location is tougher to find. So, when we heard One Eleven had a new slick after-work drink spot, we got more than a little bit excited.
One Eleven is already famous for its food and has gone from strength to strength since opening in September (with Chef, Philip Johnson, at the helm that's no big surprise). But you may not have been aware that One Eleven is also a bar, and a pretty darn cool one at that.
Commercial lobby bars, while being de rigueur in other metropolises, are strangely thin on the ground in Brisbane, so it's refreshing to find One Eleven tucked into the lobby of building One One One. With a beautiful L-shaped bar that wraps around the kitchen and service area, this is prime real estate to sit and people watch as the hustle and bustle of the city passes you by.
Philip Johnson and Mathias Andersson are behind the bar food, so you know it's going to be fantastic. There are heavenly grilled prawns with garlic butter (stop it!) and chistorra, salt-crusted potatoes, and saffron rouille and a duck parfait (and I can't pass up a parfait).
And the star power doesn't stop there. The wines are selected by sommelier, Alan Hunter. As a matter of fact, we think a glass of red at the bar is the perfect pit stop before embarking on a leisurely meal at the bistro,or simply enjoying an evening of cocktails, food and wine without leaving the bar!
Corporate cats and foodies are already embracing this slick metro bar's offering, so we recommend you head down to One One One Eagle Street on a Friday eve and check it out for yourself.
