Ahhh Brisbane. Our beloved little old city has come a long way in the last few years. It feels like every week a new entertainment precinct or foodie development is popping up somewhere and none of you will be surprised to hear that we're all over it. Lucky for us, one of these foodie precincts is about the get a whole lot more epic. Eagle Street Pier, AKA one of Brisbane’s most famed foodie spots, could be getting a $1.4 billion dollar make-over.

Real estate investment trust Dexus has just unveiled their futuristic and modern AF development plans for Eagle Street Pier and it, just quietly, involves two new towers with the potential for commercial, residential, and retail use to boot.

The proposal also includes the construction of a 1.5 hectare public space on the riverfront. We're talking about shaded public terraces going all the way down to the water as well as a new, wider Riverwalk section (sounds like the perfect place for a cocktail bar… hint hint). The development promises to bring new restaurants and cafes to the area, as well as new bars, casual eateries, and markets. Like we said, we are so freaking here for it.

The new development will be a traffic-free precinct which means it'll also be the perfect place for afternoon strolls and bike rides in the sunshine. We know you're already thinking about those post-exercise cocktails right about now (we are too). With open terraces, better river views and widened and renewed walkways, Eagle Street Pier will be transformed into one of Brisbane’s most beautiful and pedestrian friendly eat streets. Dexus’s design proposals feature lush sub-tropical landscaping and sleek, modern buildings that will make this one of Brisbane’s most beautiful developments to date.

Dexus is currently working with the Brisbane City Council and Translink as the final stages of the proposal are being approved. You can head here for even more details.
