Newstead Just Scored A Slick New Late-Night Bar

After the closure of Chester St Bakery, the high-profile location on Chester Street is about to open as stunning new wine bar, Hello Gorgeous.

Set to launch at the end of the month, it’s another impressive addition to the suburb’s burgeoning night life, which has exploded over the past 18 months with the launches of boutique hotel The Calile, Greek restaurant Hellenika, multi-million-dollar renovations to James Street’s Palace Cinemas and City Winery, among so many others, all setting up in this pocket of Fortitude Valley to dominate as a lifestyle destination.

Brooklyn Standard and Bar Alto alumni, Justinn DeBeer is behind the classy new venture, bringing on stylist Bea Berry to oversee the fit-out of Hello Gorgeous. Curved accents throughout including a marble-honed bar of Spanish pink marble, with teal furnishings and a split-level bar area give the unique space a heavy dose of class.

Outside, Hello Gorgeous will feature a sweeping front deck adorned with tropical plants and pergolas, with plenty of seating areas to knock back drinks in the afternoon sunshine.

The menu, courtesy of head chef Matthew Wrench, will be dominated by share plates and seafood, ideal for our balmy days where a burg just won’t cut it, but it’s the wine menu—featuring more than 40 boutique drops—that will set this neighbourhood bar apart.

Hello Gorgeous is due to open in late January. Keep an eye out for more information on their official launch date.
