How to Avoid Inflicting Pash Rash | Brisbane’s Best Shaves

Our hit-list of Brisbane's best shavers comes just in time for Valentine's Day, when – fingers crossed – you'll be crossing some personal boundaries and getting your smooch on with a lucky lady, minus the pash rash.

A good shave can be characterised by the absence of any redness, skin irritation, burning, and, of course, your face should be left smoother than the proverbial baby's rear end.

With your help, we've tracked down Brisbane's best neck shaves. It's time to reign in those face jumpers and get ready for dancing cheek-to-cheek guys.

Fraser's Barber Shop
Using an old-fashioned (and kind of terrifying) straight razor, Fraser's — a new, old school barber and hairdresser in Brisbane City — executes exceptional cut-throat shaves on Brisbane gents, using a refreshing alternation of hot and cold towels. Find Fraser's on Albert Street in the CBD.

One of their shaves will set you back $30, and they offer a haircut and face shave package which includes a wash, shave, and complimentary drink (coffee, beer, soft drink, whatever you fancy) for $65 smackers.

You'll also find a selection of Uppercut products available, for styling your 'do.

Esquire Male Grooming
Offering a complimentary beer with every shave or haircut (you can even vote for their 'beer of the month', which will then be served in the salon) Esquire Male Grooming on Park Road is a great spot to swing by for a shave on the run, or sit and stay a while for a full hair styling session. Esquire is also home to great grooming products like Crew, and the famous Truefitt & Hill, whose line includes shaving creams, balms, razors, brushes, stands and everything you need to shave your own moneymaker like a pro.

Bare Bones Barber Shop
A little bit rockabilly, this Morningside barber has such a following you're likely to find yourself in a queue if you come by on a weekend. Spruce up for the special day with a shave from Bare Bones, and watch the ladies swoon.

The Emporium Barber
The Emporium Barber guys know that the modern man is a busy man, so they have an espresso bar attached to their barbershop. Handy for a short black and a shave on the go, they also offer haircuts and throw in a complimentary beverage with every cut or shave.

If you don't have any hair to be removed, don't let that stop you from coming by. These guys will welcome you in for coffee and a good ol' shooting the breeze session.

Psst. Girls, these guys sell beard oil. Good hipster-boyfriend Valentine's Day present? We think so.

Jimmy Rod's
You don't need an appointment to swing by one of Jimmy Rod's 5 Brisbane locations for a shave, which all boast a traditional feel, but with all the mod cons (their Brisbane city store has a PS3 you can play while you wait. Fancy.)

Johnny Voodoo's Barber Shop
Home to the full, hot-towel face shave, Johnny Voodoo's in Camira offer free beers as part of their razor shave experience. Old school barbering and new school hairdressing (they can style your high top, as well as your pomp and quiff) meets rockabilly at this attitude packed Brisbane barbershop.
