It’s the post-lockdown news we’ve all been waiting for—Howard Smith Wharves, beloved weekend drinking spot of all Brisbanites, is re-opening. And not just for delicious feeds at their restaurants (though we’ve missed them all), but for boozy sessions on the lawn as well, which we know you’ve been missing all iso long. Fire up the group chat, it’s time to get back out there.

While Mr Percival’s and Felons Brewing Co both open on Thursday 18 June, it’s Saturday 20 you’ll be hanging out for, when the wharves ‘Weekends on the Lawn’ sessions kick off again. Things will be a little different to those usual crowded afternoons under the bridge though, with a limit of 20 people per seated section in accordance with the current government regulations. Details of guests will be taken on entry and a new contactless ordering system, me&u, will also be in place, so you can pay and order from your phone, no lining up necessary.

Greca, Betty’s Burgers and Goodtimes Gelateria have all also re-opened, with Stanley to follow soon, so you can once again spend every weekend eating your way around the precinct.

Founder and Director of Howard Smith Wharves, Adam Flaskas, said “Whilst the road ahead will be quite different than we’re used to, and still somewhat uncertain, this news is certainly a step in the right direction and an exciting milestone after a difficult few months. Safety is of course our top priority, for our team members and guests, and we look forward to working closely with the authorities in this first phase of re-opening and in the coming months ahead to keep our community safe.”

If you are planning on heading down to the wharves, just remember that things will be different for a while, so be patient and stick to those physical distancing guidelines.

In the meantime, check out all the other bars and breweries that have re-opened for cocktails and pints here
