Smokin’ | Brisbane’s Best Barbecue Joints

Like every patriotic Australian, I've had my fair share of barbecues (election day or the annual trip to Bunnings just wouldn't be the same without one) but our friends across the Pacific have taken the powers of the fiery, black grill to the next level. I'm talking about the charred, soulful succulence of American BBQ, the kind of meal that comes served in a satellite dish with lashings of dark sauce and a giant wedge of watermelon…

But why go state side when there are so many wonderful barbecue joints and cracking American restaurants right here in Brisbane to suit every fancy?

Whether it's date night, family dinner, work lunch, or a cheeky takeaway, here's our pick of Brisbane's best barbecue joints

Mighty Mighty | Fortitude Valley

Where most Brisbane barbecue joints can skip the bells and whistles to dive right in, Mighty Mighty is all about the upper crust of American food. Brisket, smokey ribs and American craft beer reigns supreme here, and Mighty Mighty will even let you bundle up all that saucy, smoky goodness in a carry out package. Get in my grillspace.

The Smoke House BBQ | New Farm

Mosey down to the Smoke House BBQ for a tour of America's finest and never leave your table. Short ribs from Texas, pulled pork from North Carolina and some Bayou shrimp bites that would make Bubba's mumma proud. All complemented nicely with a bottle or two from their range of all-American wines and beers. Oh, lordy…

Carolina Kitchen | Coorparoo

If you ever salivated over TV diners where they serve great racks of ribs, buckets of wings, and pie, Carolina Kitchen is the place to make your fantasy become reality. Drop by with a group of mates or the family, stock up on a big 'ole feast and wash it down with a grape-flavoured carbonated fruit drink. Don't forget your drop sheet…or a bib.

Southern Attitude | Bulimba

Alright boys, let's not horse around. Southern Attitude offers a smorgasbord of all the usual suspects and their variants; ribs, burgers, steaks and fixin's, all slathered in sauce and washed down with a slick whisky. If we're heading to this Brisbane barbecue joint, somebody better fetch my smelling salts…

But these aren't the only joints grillin', check out the premium Brazilian flair courtesy of Mundo Churrasco, the Japanese barbecue at Moga, or those pioneers of interactive dining, Sunny Seoul BBQ
