Brisbane’s chicken wing kings (try and say that 10 times really fast—we dare you) have arrived on the Gold Coast—permanently! King of the Wings have set up shop in a substantial 150-seat venue on Surfers Paradise’s bustling Orchid Avenue—perfect for pre and post-bar hopping.
For those lucky bastards, this means gnarly chunks of some of the south east’s tastiest wings in all kinds of flavours including southern spice (a different south), traditional buffalo, and some spicier numbers to challenge our tolerance. Also on the menu will be boneless chicken sliders in various flavours, sweet potato wedges, plus vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Though, be warned, this will be more than just a dedicated chicken wing restaurant. King of the Wings intends to become a fun loving oh-so Gold Coast diner that emblazons a colourful icon of our circa-1960s history in lights, forever.
How, you ask?
Move over America’s Hooters, ‘cause this Surfers Paradise restaurant has teamed up with the Coast’s very own Meter Maids! Yes, these gold-embossed beauties are stepping in as your attentive, smiling waitresses. True story. Love or loathe the idea, can you get more Surfers Paradise? We think not!
King of the Wings opens this weekend (Saturday 31 March) and are celebrating by giving away free wings for five hours, starting from 12pm. Prepare for sticky fingers and Meter Maid selfies!
