No, not a city fringe weekend rave—it’s something even better. For one day only, Gauchito Gil’s infamous Malbec Day is popping up in Fortitude Valley, bringing with it a truck load (quite literally) of Argentinian grapes.
The long-awaited festival has had sell-out runs in Sydney and Melbourne and this Sunday, it’s our turn. The day-long festival of wine is pretty self-explanatory: featuring an afternoon of generous pours, delectable food and slick beats you’ll leave feeling full, and likely, merry. Frankly, you had us at wine…
More than 70 wines will be available on the day for tastings from some of Australia, Argentina, and Europe’s most acclaimed wineries such as Jed, Untapped Fine Wines and Roseview Imports.
On top of this impressive wine producing line-up, Gauchito Gil’s Malbec Day will have wildly impressive tango dancers performing throughout the afternoon, and it will host its now-legendary Golden Empanada competition. Five of Brisbane’s best restaurants will battle it out, trying to take out two key categories: people’s choice, and the pro prize, which is voted by a team of enthusiastic local food critics.
All in all, it’s a day not to be missed. If you like red wine and have a penchant for seasoned meat in pastry (who doesn’t?) you’ll find worse ways to spend your Sunday than with a glass of red in hand, fresh empanada in the other.
It’s a done deal if you ask us. Get all the events details and your tickets, right here.
