Surely one of, if not the, best instrumental bands in the world, Holy Fuck, is touring Australia as part of the Groovin' The Moo Festival. Fortunately for us city dwellers, they're also stopping in Brisbane for a sideshow!
Holy Fuck are probably best known for their amazing zeitgeisty video for their song Red Lights. It features cats playing all the instruments and even a car chase between a cat and a dog. Hilarious stuff.
Besides that video, Holy Fuck tend to let the music speak for itself — they keep a low profile, and with a name like that, ward off most commercial interest. That's not to say their music isn't universal. Their style melds equal parts indie rock and dance music with the focus pointing firmly on the dancefloor.
I had the pleasure of seeing them live at Harvest Festival a couple of years ago and they were definitely the highlight for me amongst a huge lineup of much-admired bands.
To give them even more cred, they've been touted by the likes of Lou Reed, Radiohead, MIA and Michael Stipe (frontman of REM), and have played Coachella, Primavera, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury.
The show is on at The Zoo, so it's bound to be a super fun, tight crowd. Don't miss this seriously fun gig!
