Take a walk along the riverside at Hamilton during the next few weeks and you might spot some curious creations along the foreshore. Sculpture By the River 2020 is here, and it’s taken over Northshore with a heap of incredible sculptures lining the River Walk.

With a huge focus on celebrating local artists whilst paying homage to the ‘River City’, this year’s Sculpture By The River will be sticking around until 6 December. Northshore’s stunning river views provide the perfect backdrop for the outdoor installations curated by Sculptors Queensland, and art-lovers—or even just anyone out for an afternoon stroll—are encouraged to take the interactive installments at their own pace.

The larger than life outdoor gallery has a work of art for everyone to admire, and even a sculpture hunt if you want to get interactive. Hit the riverfront path and you’ll find pieces from over 34 different artists, all made from a plethora of different mediums, including bronze, timber, resin and steel. With the theme being Brisbane itself, many fauna-inspired installations are present—be sure to say hi to the pelican. There’s even a sculpture featuring coffee machine pods as it’s main medium, how’s that for recycling?

So put your walking shoes on and hit the Northshore River Walk for a stroll—you’ve got until December to hunt down all the sculptures.
