Never one to shy away from a new café opening, I was quick to visit Yeronga’s newest addition, Seven South. And, well, it’s safe to say I've pretty much fallen head-over-heels with this Southside gem.
If you’re looking for a laidback weekend haunt, Seven South is your new bestie. Hidden away in the back streets of Yeronga, you’d be mistaken for thinking this would be a quiet café filled only with locals. It seems that word has spread quickly about Seven South as it’s always buzzing and drawing a huge weekend crowd.
On my first visit (yes, I've been back multiple times!) the owner, who workers front of house, recommended the Lemon Thyme Blueberry and Ricotta Hot Cakes if I were after something sweet or the Herb Smashed Avocado, House Pumpkin Bread and Goat’s Feta if savoury was more my thing. It’s no secret that I’m a massive sweet tooth and a huge fan of pancakes so I went with the hot cake recommendation. Thankfully my dining partner went with the smashed avo so I could sample some of that too.
It’s amazing how much love goes into the food and presentation at Seven South, it’s literally an insta-fanatics dream. The hot cake was decorated with flowers, crème fresh and pistachio praline, and was almost too beautiful to eat. I'm not going to lie, I definitely Instagramed that baby. And the house made pumpkin bread was absolutely delicious; I wouldn’t be surprised if they started getting requests for take home loaves.
With Seven South located mere minutes from my house, it’s almost embarrassing how many times I’ve been back, but it’s safe to say they can do no wrong. I’ve sampled the salty perfection of the fried potato and Parmesan hotcakes, their poached eggs with bacon on sourdough, an acai bowl special and the porcini sformato with sautéed mushrooms. I’m yet to be disappointed.
With an all day weekend breakfast menu, plus a cabinet full of tantalising treats, it’s safe to say, I’ll be back again to sample their entire menu!
