The Elizabeth Picture Theatre is back hosting their Studio Ghibli film festival for 2019. Running from 21 February until 12 May, the 3-month long festival will feature a selection of films from the Japanese animation studio every Thursday night and Sunday afternoon.

Since its foundation in 1985, Studio Ghibli has set a global standard of excellence in animation, attaining global recognition for the whimsical stories and vivid imagery of their 22 films that are revered around the world. Included in the Elizabeth Picture Theatre line-up is cult favourite Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, and Howl’s Moving Castle, as well as Kiki’s Delivery Service and Grave of the Fireflies. The full screening schedule is available here and all tickets are just $12 each. If last year’s festival is anything to go by, each session will be a sell-out so make sure you book tickets online to avoid missing out on the full experience of Ghibli on the big screen.
