Brisbane’s bar scene is bursting with cool places that offer great atmosphere, tasty food, and damn good cocktails, but it's the bar scene brewing south of the river that's really caught our attention of late. If you’ve been too busy getting crunk in the city or valley to explore our southern watering holes, never fear, we’ve got you covered.

Here are some of South Bank’s best bars and top spots to get your drank on.

The Fox

South Brisbane

Rooftop bars don’t get much cooler than Dandy’s Rooftop at The Fox Hotel, making this easily one the best South Bank bars to hit on the weekend. The bright, quirky and comfy decor make this bar the perfect spot to get a cocktail and watch the sunset over our pretty city. Our pick of their climate-approps cocktail list is the ‘Napoleon Dynamite’: Ketel One vodka, Mandarine Napoleon, lemon juice and citrus glaze over ice with a few dashes of Angostura bitters, topped with sparkling and fresh mint.

Next Door Kitchen and Bar

South Bank

Inspired by the 1920s and a time when mixing drinks was considered an art form, Next Door Kitchen and Bar is a trendy speakeasy hideout. Creep on down to get your hands on delicious food and prohibition era cocktails including house made hooch and giggle water served by the litre.

Cowch

South Bank

Laid back dessert bar, Cowch, comes alive in the evenings with great music a cool vibe, and loads of liquid dessert options, natch. Their cocktail menu includes a range of dessert inspired treats that appeal to the boozy chocolate lover within, including a heavenly Milk Chocolatini of Mozart Gold, Creme de Cacao and Absolut Vanilla.

Cove Bar & Dining

South Bank

Sitting pretty along River Quay, Cove Bar & Dining not only offers gorg’ views of the river and city but excellent people watching opportunities as well. Love Mojitos? Work your way through their brand new mojito menu which includes a deadly delicious passionfruit mojito of Oak Heart spiced rum, passionfruit puree, lime, mint, and soda.

Manhattan Line

South Bank

New York inspired whiskey and hotdog bar, Manhattan Line, is comfy, chic and downright cool. Grab your mates and head to this cracking little South Bank bar for American style street food including more delicious hot dogs than you can poke a sausage at and some of Brisbane’s best buffalo wings. Wash it all down with one of their inspired bourbon cocktails.

Hop & Pickle

South Bank

New kids on the block, Hop & Pickle, offers a banging street side bar with a great atmosphere that opens up onto Little Stanley Street. Not only do they dish up a great Sunday roast, perfect with an ice cold craft beer, they also have a kickin’ little cocktail menu including a killer margarita.

Soleil Pool Bar

South Brisbane

What’s a ‘best of’ bar list without at pool bar? Head up to South Bank bar, Soleil atop Rydges, overlooking Grey Street, for a pumping atmosphere of great music, good looking guests, and tasty drinks in a beautiful setting. Try the Bittersweet Symphony cocktail of Belvedere vodka, Aperol, Pavan liqueur, lime, fresh strawberries and orange bitters, shaken and strained over ice.

The Sangria Bar

South Bank

Life doesn’t get much better than tapas and jugs of sangria, especially at chilled out Grey Street hotspot, The Sangria Bar at Ole Restaurant. Aside from your traditional red and white sangria, you can also get your paws on blueberry and passionfruit red sangria and an incredibly refreshing grapefruit and lychee white sangria.

Tomahawk Bar

South Bank

Independent craft beer mecca and gastro pub darling, Tomahawk Bar, has 13 taps on rotation and over 90 bottles of beer to choose from. Grab your mates and head down to this cool Brisbane beer hall to delve into a whole world of hopsy goodness, and feast on some mind-blowing beer-infused pub food while you’re at it.

Hoo Ha Bar

South Bank
